Lachlan Lam was a real standout as he engaged the line regularly and laid on three try assists in addition to the cracking individual try he scored late in the first half. Sylvester Namo and Koso Bandi brought plenty of impact with their carries off the bench.
Papua New Guinea secured the Pacific Bowl title after a strong second half display saw them cruise past the Cook Islands 42-20 in Port Moresby. Leading 16-14 at halftime, the Kumuls broke the game open early in the second half with quickfire tries to Robert Derby and Sylvester Namo before the Aitu were reduced to 12 men when Zane Tetevano was binned for a high tackle. Elijah Roltinga scored his second try from a crisp Lachlan Lam pass in the 50th before Nene Macdonald's second made it 38-14 with 22 minutes to go. The Cook Islands put up more resistance in the final quarter as Esom Ioka pegged a consolation try before Morea Morea had the final say for the Kumuls.
