That's all we have for this one. Stay with Tribe for tomorrow's Pacific Cup double header from Christchurch. First up the Kiwi Ferns will take on the Jillaroos before the Kiwis and Kangaroos meet in the South Island city for the first time since 1989. This is Anthony Morgan signing off.
Cook Islands toiled hard in the first half but were emphatically outplayed in the second as Fiji ramped up the pressure on defence as well as attack. Delahia Wigmore provided a few highlights as he landed some big shots on Sivo and Viliame Kikau. Wigmore was also solid with ball in hand as he made five tackle busts in his 12 runs which netted 106m. Davvy Moale was strong up front with 111m and 23 tackles.
Taane Milne was a standout on the right edge for the Bati with 230m from his 16 runs. Milne also had a day out with the boot as he landed 7/7. Wingers Maika Sivo and Semi Valemei provided plenty of highlights as they combined for four tries, seven tackle busts and 401m from 32 runs. Caleb Navale was another strong performer in the middle with 162m and 40 tackles.
Fiji bounced back from their defeat to Papua New Guinea last week with an emphatic 56-6 trouncing of the Cook Islands in Suva. Leading 24-6 at halftime, the Bati went up a few gears in the second half as they piled on a further six unanswered tries. Semi Valemei ran onto a pinpoint Kurt Donoghoe bomb as he left high above Esom Ioka to score in the 52nd minute. Michael Jennings scored his third try from a cracking Maika Sivo offload in the 61st before Ben Nakubuwai pounced on a Donoghoe grubber to score in the 65th. A quickfire Sivo double took the Bati past the half century before Valemei's second completed the scoring with five minutes to go.
