The Sharks ran in seven tries to two as they cruised past the Cowboys 12-36 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Leading 6-16 at halftime, the Sharks found the going tougher in the third quarter as North Queensland held firm despite playing a 10-minute stretch with Jaxon Purdue in the sin bin. Moments after Purdue's return, Cronulla extended their lead with cracking long range team try. After Samuel Stonestreet made a break down the right edge, the Sharks spread it back to the left where Braydon Trindall and Ronaldo Mulitalo combined to put Teig Wilton over in the corner. Mulitalo crossed for a try of his own in the 62nd when Will Kennedy stripped the Cowboys for numbers on the left before Stonestreet completed his second try with six minutes to go. Scott Drinkwater pegged one back with a fantastic individual try from the short kickoff but it was only brief respite for the home side as the Sharks capped their win with a late try to Kayal Iro.
