Next up for Inter Milan is a massive clash with league leaders Napoli in Serie A back here at the San Siro on Sunday. That is undoubtedly one of the major match-ups across the entire footballing weekend, whilst Arsenal return to Premier League action with another big fixture against cross-town rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Another defeat for Arsenal, and another blow in a campaign that has rapidly deteriorated in recent weeks. They were slow to start, but once they settled into the contest, they dominated and dictated the majority of the game with over 60% of the possession. Finding a way through Inter's low block proved their undoing though, and just like they did at St James Park last weekend, they again looked toothless going forward. Martinelli and Saka bombarded the penalty box with delivery after delivery, but none proved fruitful, and they were continually beaten in the air by the likes of De Vrij and Bisseck. Arguably the only bright spot was the return of Martin Odegaard from injury, but he was only injected into the action in injury-time, and failed to inspire a late leveller. How Arsenal recover from this will be of much intrigue, and it all seems to be falling apart around Arteta at the moment.

Arsenal have been criticised for their use of the dark arts this season, but it was Inter Milan who employed them tonight. The Nerazzuri started brightly through the first fifteen minutes, striking the crossbar with Denzel Dumfries. They struggled to maintain that same intensity throughout though, and were forced onto the back foot for much of the remainder. Calhanoglu's goal came against the run of play as such, and Simone Inzaghi's side then sat back and soaked up the pressure through the second half. Again their defensive resilience came to the fore, slowing the game down, and frustrating Arsenal with the work of their five-man block. Yann Bisseck was particuarly impressive with his game managment, and was well supported by Stefan de Vrij and Pavard. The result caps off a marvellous week for the Milan clubs in the Champions League, with Inter matching AC Milan's heroics at the Bernabeu to preserve their unbeaten record.

Neither side had conceded a goal in the competition heading into tonight, and a low-scoring contest played out, with Hakan Calhanoglu's late first half penalty proving the difference. The Gunners pushed for a leveller for the duration of the second stanza, but they couldn't find a way through Inter's stubborn defence, and again have been made to pay for a lack of attacking creativity. The Nerazzurri remain one of five unbeaten teams in the Champions League as such, whilst Arsenal's campaign has slipped to another low with their first European defeat of the season.

SHOT! Seconds left on the clock for Arsenal, but Inter's block continues to hold. Saka picks up another touch down the right, before Nwaneri advances through the middle and takes aim from long range on his left foot. He gets plenty of power behind it, but the ball flies over the crossbar and into the stands. That might be that for Arsenal.

Sommer launches a long ball as far away from his own goal as possible, and Saliba takes it down at the back. Arsenal reset with possession, and Odegaard gets his first touch inside the attacking half. He sends a searching pass down the right for Saka, but Thuram intercepts.

Havertz won't be able to play on, and finally Odegaard returns for Arsenal from injury, looking to inspire a late salvage job at the San Siro.
