Greece record a convincing win tonight with the All Whites failing to fire again. Make sure you join us again on Tribe for live commentary of New Zealand's next match with Ireland on Tuesday night. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from Athens. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
Next up for the All Whites is a trip to Dublin to face the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night. Bazeley will want a lot more from his squad over there, having been played off the park in the first half tonight. Some of those who caught the eye off the bench here, may even get a starting chance in Dublin. Of course, next for Greece is a must-win Euro qualifying encounter with France back here in Athens.
A breeze for Greece tonight, who never had to get out of second gear. It's exactly the result and performance coach Gus Poyet would've wanted ahead of their pivotal Euro qualifier with France. They were completely dominant from the outset, and probably could have grabbed a couple more goals such where the plethora of chances they created in that opening half. With the contest sealed, Poyet was also able to rest and rotate in the second stanza, injecting some gametime and experience into the rest of the squad with an eye on Tuesday's match.
Fulltime in Athens and two first half goals have propelled Greece to a comfortable victory. The All Whites were better in the second stanza, but this was ultimately another disappointing performance from Bazeley's men. They were devoid of answers for the majority, lacking accuracy and composure with the ball, and were consistently exposed at the back. Greece took the foot off the pedal after their dominant opening stanza performance, with Konstantelias and and Giakoumakis scoring the goals as they blitzed the All Whites early on. The hosts completely overran the New Zealand defence during that first forty-five, stretching their opposition from side to side and finding acres of space in the penalty box. Bindon and Smith were caught out, alongside Woud for the first goal, and the All Whites couldn't match their opponents when Greece went full throttle. Nevertheless, they did look a lot better in the second half, with Just and Champness in particular catching the eye off the bench. Bazeley would have wanted a lot more from his starters though, and they have the chance to build from this showing in Dublin on Tuesday.

Pavlidis chases a long ball down the other end of the pitch, but he crashes into Surman and New Zealand get the free kick. They play it up to halfway, but can't find a teammate and Greece will play out the final few moments with possession.

SHOT! Into three minutes of injury time at the end of this one, and Payne finds Just out on the right wing with a good searching pass. The latter makes his way to the byline and wins a corner, with Lewis stepping up to take the set piece. It's a weak delivery, but the rebound comes back out for Cacace to hit from long range. He can't keep his effort down though, and it flies over the crossbar for a goal kick.

A nice touch here from Poyet, who brings on Tzavellas for his 50th cap in the final few moments of the match. The defender comes on in place of Mantalos and receives the captain's armband as well.
