So thanks to that late winner France have set up a contest between either Portugal or Slovenia at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. Belgium now does not have a competitive game for 67 days when they face Isreal in the Nations League. They will be eager to get to that so they can move past this poor performance at the Euros.
Belgium simply did not deserve to go through there at all. It was a similar 90 minutes to the one they produced against Ukraine as they looked like they were scared to go forward. Lukakau didn't do anything for around 70 minutes before he forced a save out of Maignan from a tight angle. De Bruyne had a big chance with not long to go but he made it easier for Maignan than it should have been. The golden generation for Belgium was a thing of the past but this seemed to be the last chance for the likes of Lukaku and De Bruyne. They will be gutted that it has ended in such a dismal fashion.
FRANCE ARE THROUGH TO THE QUARTER-FINALS! Didier Descahmps' men are deservedly the ones going through to the last eight after a dull 90 minutes. They were the side constantly threatening as Thuram and Tchouameni had massive chances in the first half. In the second 45 minutes, Mbappe had several openings but didn't manage to divert any of his shots on target. Eventually, they got the breakthrough with five minutes left thanks to another own goal. Kolo Muani made himself a yard to get a shot off. His effort took a massive deflection off Vertonghen which took it past Casteels. A goal which summed up the game but France won't care!

Doku dances past Kounde on the left flank again. He manages to squeeze in a low cross towards the six-yard box. It is a fantastic delivery but De Bruyne is flat-footed in the box as the ball whizzes past him.

Lukebakio drives inside from the right wing to find Onana in some space. Onana moves it on quickly to Doku on the left who crosses in low. Saliba is there to intercept but the ball is still alive. Lukaku cannot react in time as Upamecano clears it away.
