So Croatia will be left to wait and see how the other groups play out to know if they will play any further part in this tournament. Already they are the fifth best 3rd placed team. They will need a minor miracle to make it through from here that would include England beating Slovenia comprehensively. Italy have a date with Switzerland in Berlin as they enter the knockout stages. But, that's all from me for this dramatic Euro 2024 match between Croatia and Italy. I've been Danny Johnston, thanks for following along live on Tribe.
Italy were on the verge of leaving their fate in others' hands. But, they have snatched second place away and have booked themselves a round of 16 clash against Switzerland. Credit has to go to Spalletti for his initial changes and his substitutions throughout the evening. They kept going and were eventually rewarded. Their backline also defended admirably throughout the night with Bastoni and Calafiori standouts, with the latter setting up the winning goal quite brilliantly.
What drama, what theatre! A thoroughly engaging match that has left Croatia absolutely crushed and Italy jubilant. Croatia controlled the game for the opening hour and were rewarded when Modric made amends for his missed penalty by capitalising on a rebound. But, as they sat back they invited Italy further and further on. They defended desperately but could not keep Zaccagni out in the final minute. For many of this side, this will be their last major tournament. These Croatian players have impressed for so long but it is not to be in Euro 2024. A special mention to Croatia's greatest ever, Luka Modric, who may just have played his final minutes in a Croatian shirt.
ITALY ARE THROUGH IN THE MOST DRAMATIC OF CIRCUMSTANCES! Right up until the 97th minute it was Croatia who were clinging onto second place thanks to Luka Modric's goal. But, Italy kept coming and eventually, with virtually the last kick of the game, Zaccagni swept the ball past the outstretched Livakovic to send them into second place in the group. Croatia finish in third, but two points will surely not be enough to see them make the round of 16.

STAGGERING! HEARTBREAKING! SHEER JOY FOR ITALY! Zaccagni equalises for Italy in the final minute and sends Italy through to the last 16! And he sends Croatia home! Calafiori steps forward from the back, gliding to the edge of the box. He drags defenders in before releasing Zaccagni on the left side of the box. In plenty of space, first time, he whips a right-footed shot on goal. It's a brilliantly composed finish as he swings it into the right side of the goal. And with the final kick of the game, with his very first international goal, Zaccagni rescues Italy. Simply unbelievable.

Italy are laboured on the ball and it allows Croatia to win it back. Perisic launches the ball long towards Budimir. He nudges Bastoni in the back and so it's a free kick for Italy.

On the Croatia attack before, Fagioli pulled a Croatian supporting attacker down and so the referee goes to his pocket to book him for this offence belatedly. It is an Italian free kick just inside their half though so they can load up another attack.
