That wraps up our coverage of this Euro 2024 Group C Qualifier between England and Malta. It was hardly a classic, but England got the job done in the end. Thanks for joining us on Tribe! This is Zak Brown signing out.
However, with that result England have guaranteed they will top Group C, leaving them with a free hit against North Macedonia in their final Euro 2024 qualifier in three days. As for Malta, their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign comes to a disappointing end, with no points earned from their eight games. However, they will be hoping to take their positive performance tonight into future endeavours.
The game draws to a close and England take the three points, albeit rather unconvincingly. Malta can be proud of their efforts and might count themselves unlucky not to have grabbed a goal. Whilst England did take an early lead through an own goal, they barely threatened the Malta goal in the first half. The second half did see an improvement for England with their creativity through the likes of substitutes Bukayo Sako and Cole Palmer, but this game won't be remembered for very long!

A Malta pass down the left wing is cut out by Kieran Trippier, as Jodi Jones makes late contact with the England full-back to concede the free kick.
90+4'
Malta look for a late opportunity to grab a goal in this game, but England put enough defensive pressure on to keep Malta in the middle third of the pitch.
90+2'
COLE PALMER COMES CLOSE! He knocks the ball past a Maltese defender inside the penalty area, before looking to slide the ball across goal from close range. But Malta captain Steve Borg covers well to slide in and deflects Palmer's pass over the crossbar for an England corner.
90+1'
Bukayo Saka looks to take on Enrico Pepe down the right wing, but Pepe slides in to dispossess Saka. Kyle Walker jogs over to take the throw-in, midway inside Malta's half.

Phil Foden wins a free kick for England on the left wing, but his delivery is headed away by Malta substitute Bjorn Kristensen at the front post.
