Maignon has a save (of sorts)! Luxembourg work it to Carlson on the left, who tries to find Sinani running into the box, but it's all the way to Magic Mike, and France will start again.

The French captain sends it backwards and Les Bleus will knock it about their midfield and defense, until Fofana gives it up under pressure. 

CHANCE!! There are a lot of Griezmann haters out there, but he makes a delightful run into the box on the right, takes a beautiful touch at top speed, and squares a dangerous ball with the outside of his left foot. No one is there, but there were at least three world-class pieces of skill in about five seconds there.

Two minutes injury time as La Marseillaise rings around the ground. 

We're back under way and Hernandez takes a break for Clauss. Perhaps Deschamps isn't keen on showing his Euro tactics, as the Hernandez-Mbappe combo was clicking.  All Clauss has to do is stay out of Mbappe's way on the left! Upamecano is also off for Saliba. 

Oh, this is why Mbappe is higher - he gets the ball up the line by Hernandez and sends the return to the wingbak cutting inside. Hernandez takes it into the box and to the byline and it takes a good Luxembourg tackle to concede the corner.

France pressing high still, keeping their discipline. It has slowed down a little in possession, Pavard on the right feeding Griezmann who sends a ball to the back post for Clauss (he's everywhere!). It's a bit heavy and bounces off Clauss' chest and into the arms of Moris.  

PENALTY SHOUT! Mbappe is on a tear now, and he runs at and around Dzogovic. The Luxembourg defender gets a handful of shirt but Mbappe is down way too easily and it's waved away. 

Didier Deschamps will be happy enough with that, quite a defensively sound half from Les Blues, and that's the main thing - he knows they have the firepower anyway to unlock anyone at the other end. The right has been a little disjointed between Kounde and Kolo Muani and the left took some time for the Hernandez-Mbappe combo to kick in, but France have pretty much dominated so far. They'll push on as well. 

Won back TWICE by Kante now, his fuse has been lit! Kolo Muani and Kounde again not linking up. It's out for a Luxembourg throw on the left near half way. 

SHOT! It's knocked into the Luxembourg box from the left and right before finally falling to Fofana 20 yards out right in front. His volley is lovely but straight at Moris for an easy save. 

CLAUSS, WOW!! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?? An innocuous short corner, Griezmann to Mbappe on the left. He sends a pass to Clauss on the left apex of the box, who bends a MONSTER into the top left corner, giving Moris no chance! 

The corner is punched clear but Mustafic is holding his right shoulder and not looking happy, the sub could be subbed! A fairly innocuous challenge with Clauss and Mustafic might have done his shoulder.

MBAPPE FROM CLOSE RANGE!! Fofana and Kante and Thuram up the middle with some nice passing, over the top for Mbappe to shoot from close range on the volley! Too close to Moris and deflected over for a corner!

Mbappe is better when he's out of Hernandez's way on the left, there's not enough space out there for him and this isn't PSG (or Real Madrid). He has to recycle to the right and Fofana misdirects a pass out to Kolo Muani and again the right winger can't get to it before it's over the line for a Luxembourg throw. 

Mbappe receives deep and, to a massive roar from the crowd, takes off through the middle of the park. Oh, but his pass out to Kolo Muani goes under the boot of the right winger and directly out. 

The corner is easily cleared but Luxembourg have got their tails up. They have possession in France's half, but it's tough going with those two banks of four blue shirts in front of them. Olsen looks for Dzogovic on the right, trying to go around the blue block, but it's overhit and out for a France throw on half way. 

SHOT MBAPPE AGAIN! The corner is punched clear by keeper Moris and France recycle, all the way back to Maignon. He finds Hernandez high on the left, who cuts inside and feeds Mbappe in the box on the left. His shot is scuffed and easily saved. 

Thuram goes through the back of Sinani on half way and the visitors have the free kick. They'll slow it down and play it square instead of the long ball into the box, perhaps showing their intentions early. 

So now Hernandez has ceded that left wing to Mbappe, perhaps given a word by his captain. Now that combination is Hernandex deep up to Mbappe high and wide. That works out ok, but the ball into Thuram in the box is cut out. The original Hernandez wide-Mbappe in the box was working well, why change it?

A couple of changes now, as Kounde comes off for Pavard - no loss there!! Kante had a solid game as he always does - looking like someone's little brother but dominating opponents all over the park. Zaire-Emery has big (small) boots to fill there. 

Yes, that's half time. France have huffed and puffed, Luxembourg held out well and even vaguely threatened at times, but it was Mbappe who inevitably provided the chance for Kolo Muani to finish - France go in a goal up. 

Out to Herandez yet again and he cuts inside Dzogovic, who can only foul him 20 yards out on the left. 

The corner from Griezmann on the left is a good one - on the head of Kolo Muani in front of goal but he heads over from 10 yards. 

SHOT! Worked up the right and into the box by Griezmann, Mbappe shoots first-time from close range but it's too tight an angle and deflected out for a corner. 

Mbappe! First on the left, Hernandez gets in his way and he comes over to the right. The ball to Griezmann is returned and Mbappe is now on the byline to the right. Carlson has to foul him and earns the yellow card and concedes the free kick. 

CLOSE! A short corner dinked to Pavard by Mbappe, blocked on the byline. Pavard wins it back and hangs up a ball for a blue shirt on the 6-yard box but Moris is aware and out to claim.

SHOT! Again passed high to Hernandez on the left and again feeding Mbappe in the box. He lays off a nice pass to Thuram, who shoots from near the left apex of the box - hard and straight, but too straight and into the hands of Moris. 

Luxembourg work it upfield and win a corner on the left. Olsen takes it, not a bad effort, and Konate has to header powerfully away right in front of goal. 

CLOSE! A nothing shot from Mbappe from the left gets a deflection and Moris has to get up and tip it away! 

Luxembourg were resilient and disciplined. They'll make Belgium work for it on Monday. Surely they're not that far from qualification for a Major Tournament for the first time in their history??

Thill has been getting treatment a couple of times and his night is done. He was off for the goal as well, perhaps why Kolo Muani was unmarked in the box. Thill will join his two brothers on the injury list and Mustafic will take his place. 

The crowd get their wish, on comes Giroud for Griezmann. Thuram has been good, and makes way for Barcola's debut. Dzogovic is puffed and makes way for Lohei. 

Kounde and Kolo Muani can't link up on the right (they haven't all evening) and Kante helps out. He has the body of a 12 year-old, but is quick and smart and is there first (as always!) to win the free kick on half way. 

Konate is big and strong but clumsy in the tackle on Rodrigues and that's a Luxembourg free kick on the left, they can knock it into the box from there. 

SHOT! A lovely little flick-on by Kante and Mbappe will shoot from the top of the box. Partially blocked and looping over the bar for a corner.

Now it's Business As Usual as France work it left and right in the attacking third. Eventually knocked over to the right by Thuram for Kolo Muani but he's just not on anyone's radar tonight - they can't find the lanky winger and it's yet again over his head and out.

SHOT! LUXEMBOURG!! Upamecano loses it in the middle of the park and Rodrigues is away! He gets to the edge of the box on the right and blazes away - takes a deflection off Konate and is out for a corner. 

Again France sit back after a goal and Luxembourg have some possession. Martins goes on a gallop up the right but Zaire-Emery and Konate sandwich the Luxembourg midfielder in a blue pincer that ends up with the ball squirting out to a blue shirt. 

France comfortable in possession and playing all the way back to Maignon - it may be the only way he touches the ball tonight. They look for Koude on the right and then Hernandez again on the left, but the ball from Konate is high over the head of the left wing-back and out for a Luxembourg throw on their right in defence. 

The game carries on and Mbappe takes his chance to run at a weakened defence. Jans has to foul him and there will be an attacking free kick for Les Bleus.

CHANCE!! Here come France on the break!! Thuram up the middle, powering through the centre of the park! Lays it off for Mbappe on the left. Ohhhhh... once again Kolo Muani is off the radar and the ball is over his head when it looked like a goal was on!

Les Bleus are back out and looking keen. There are a couple of changes as well. 

Hello, football fans and welcome to the pretty little French city of Metz for this International Friendly between France and Luxembourg. I'm Carl Allport and I'll have all of the action for you, live right here on Tribe.

SHOT LUXEMBOURG!! A bit of a lull while Luxembourg work it upfield and lose it on the left. France lose it in the middle but Thuram wins it back, and then loses it again! Eventually the smallest player on the field (Kante) gets a toe in and it breaks to Olsen to curl a shot from 30 yards. Magic Mike now has a save from a shot on target, as it's not nearly good enough to beat him from there. 

Mbappe! First on the left, Hernandez gets in his way and he comes over to the right. The ball to Griezmann is returned and Mbappe is now on the byline to the right. Thill has to foul him and earns the yellow card and concedes the free kick. 

Yep, Mustafic is off and Philipps will come on. 

SHOT MBAPPE! Won in the centre of the park by Fofana and sent forward to Mbappe. He takes a couple of touches, into the box and cuts onto his lethal left foot to shoot from the top of the box, curling it *just* past the top right corner. 

TEAM NEWS, LUXEMBOURG: Captain Laurent Jans will start in his 103-rd match for Luxembourg tonight, taking over as the all-time leading appearance-maker in men's football for his nation. The only real surprises are that Dirk Carlson is preferred in defence ahead of Florian Bohnert, who can only be out injured, while Eldin Dzugovic gets the nod in midfield ahead of Aiman Dardari.

MBAPPE SEALS THE DEAL! A wayward pass by Martins to Jans in the Luxembourg defence is pounced on by Barcola. He drives up the left, cuts into the box and lays off a short ball to Mbappe on the penalty spot. There's only one outcome and it's Mbappe rolling the shot into the bottom left corner to seal the game in style!

WOODWORK!! Flicked on up the middle by Kante, out to Mbappe on the left by Fofana, and Mbappe squares a perfect ball to Greizmann in the D. His shot to the left of goal is off the base of the post!

And that's the end of an impressive Les Bleus performance, goals from Kolo Muani, Clauss and Mbappe pointing to a dominant French performance. Luxembourg hung in as long as they could but the quality of the French came to the surface.

The Luxembourg players have a chance to strut their stuff on the big stage tonight as well, though. They have this match and their trip to Belgium for a couple of run-outs against the big boys before they can sit back in their duchy and watch the Euros from the comfort of their own couch. But it's not just an excuse for their fans to pop over the border tonight - the last time these teams met seven years ago, the Luxembourgish held their big brothers scoreless in a famous draw - the memories of that result and subsequent celebrations will no doubt spur them on for another upset.

Fofana has run the show in the middle of the park and he now makes way for Camavinga to get literally a couple of minutes and another international cap.

Luxembourg have a little possession as France recover from the shock of their goal and probably rest on their laurels a little. Olsen has it in the attacking third but dallies on it and is muscled off by three blue shirts.

KOLO MUANI FINISHES IT!! Mbappe makes the goal, this time Hernandez is deep and out of the way, so Mbappe can take the pass wide on the left and surge into the box. He gets to the byline and hangs up a ball for Kolo Muani right in front of goal, 8 yards out. The header is down and to the left and beyond the reach of Moris. 

The home side have two friendlies before kicking off their Euro assault in a couple of weeks. This first one should be a good chance to blow off the cobwebs and get a decent result before the sterner test of Canada next week. A couple of players, in particular N'Golo Kante and Bradley Barcola, will have a chance to show their credentials while the rest of Les Bleus can reacquaint themselves with each other and enjoy the attractions of Eastern France together. Knowing Didier Deschamps, he'll demand a result and a performance here. 


Didier Deschamps will have quite a few selection headaches after that - Clauss bossed it for the short time he was on and Hernandez had better stay sharp on that left! Kante showed he's still (still!) got it. Perhaps only Kolo Muani was a bit disjointed on the right - even though he popped up with a goal!! 

WOODWORD LUXEMBOURG!! The corner from the left by Sinani is on the money, right on Mahmutovic's head in front of goal. The big Luxembourg defender glances it to the back post and off the crossbar!! CLOSE!!

The teams are out, national anthems done (La Marsellaise belted out - surely the best of them all), handshakes done and we're ready to get underway. Oh wait - we need another huddle for the teams. 

GIROUD, GIROUD, GIROUD!! The chant comes from the Metz crowd for the French favourite.

A free kick by Griezmann on the right is curled into the box, but too close to Moris and it's easy for the Belgian keeper in the Luxembourg goal. (yes, he's Belgian)

TEAM NEWS, FRANCE: A lot of ins and outs as you'd expect in the lead up to a tournament - everyone getting some time in the team. N'Golo Kante will start, as will Marcus Thuram in a minor shake-up. Old warhorses Antione Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe (all of 25 years old!) provide some stability. Barcola will come off the bench.

The free kick from the left is looped into the back post by Thill, Dzogovic's header is cleared away and then Olsen's cross from the right is too heavy, over the byline for a France goalkick. 

Now Herandez has a turn up the left - all it took was a little communication between he and Mbappe to ensure they left the space open for each other - and he'll drive up the wing and to the byline. His ball over the top is too heavy and Thuram has to tidy up. The return cross is cleared by Luxembourg and that's just about time for the first half. 

CHANCE!! Okay, Griezmann should've done better there! Won high by Mbappe and passed short to Clauss on the left near the byline, he squares it back for Griezmann right in front but he can't find the corner of the goal!

All Luxembourg need now, to get France looking aver their shoulders, is a goal. Easier said than done, but you never  know. They've defended well and looked solid and are now only a goal down at the break. Perhaps Carlson can find Rodrigues with one of his long balls and Maignon will get tested. The hosts will need to keep their concentration here, the visitors aren't going away easily.
