Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as Jack Muldoon’s first-half header sends Harrogate Town into the FA Cup second round, eliminating Wrexham in the process; I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage; I’ve been Rory Morrow and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - Harrogate host Morecambe in the league here in a lunchtime clash on Saturday. At the same time, in League One, Wrexham are at home to Mansfield Town.
Wrexham, then, will turn their focus back to League One. After bossing the early exchanges, they're left to rue those missed chances with Palmer and Mullin lively but off-target in the opening twenty minutes. Whilst the substitutes brought a renewed tempo to their attack in the closing stages, the closest they came was when Belshaw brilliantly kept out Bodvarsson and offside denied Faal's header. Not their best performance, though and they bow out to a side in the league below them at the FA Cup's first hurdle.
Fantastic result for Harrogate this afternoon. Muldoon and March pestered all game long up front, with the former's match-winning header perfectly taken. Cornelius, tenacious throughout in midfield, was immense as was O'Connor at the back who got to everything Wrexham chucked into the box late on. A place in the FA Cup second round is their reward!
HARROGATE TOWN UPSET WREXHAM IN THE FA CUP - The League Two strugglers beat the League One high-flyers! Harrogate Town hang on heroically in the second half to book a place in the FA Cup's second round as Muldoon's first-half header proves the difference. Wrexham, despite piling pressure on the Harrogate backline, never really got going and will have to absorb an early exit from the FA Cup!
90+5'
Barnett swings a cross in teasingly from the right. O'Connor stands firm in defence. expertly heading the ball away for a Wrexham throw-in on the left.
90+3'
Cannon obstructs Folarin, centrally to give Harrogate a precious defensive free kick, in the middle of their own half, on the left. Belshaw boots it down-field where Okonkwo comes and collects inside his own box.
90+2'
Sutton and Cornelius team up well to steal the ball from Cannon. Cornelius's clearance is gathered by Cleworth, on halfway as Wrexham prepare to attack again from deep.
