That brings an end to our coverage live from the London Stadium. Many thanks for tuning in and we'll see you next time. Elliott Johns signing off.
West Ham with some things to work on ahead of their trip across town to Selhurst Park. Villa on the other hand welcome Arsenal to Villa Park next weekend, what an occasion that will be.
So much to like from that Villa performance and the impact from their bench cannot be understated. Maatsen, Ramsey and of course Duran had such positive influences on that second half. Onana with a debut to remember as well, looking confident in the middle of the park and also giving his side the early lead.
The final whistle goes and Aston Villa breathe a sigh of relief. A dogged opening day display results in three points. A toughly earned victory away from home in the capital. West Ham came so close and there's visible frustration in the stadium, both amongst the players and fans. They came close today and showed signs of being a much improved outfit. They'll be gutted to miss out today.

BIG CHANCE! Somehow Soucek hasn't put it in. Kudus at the byline and he dinks a cross over Martinez's head. Soucek gets above the young fullback and heads down. Konsa is on the line and bails out his goalkeeper, chesting it away. The home side want a penalty for handball but they won't get one. Ushered behind for a goal kick.

The Hammers are going to have to find a route other than route one football. Villa consistently picking off these long balls. Villa then counter and Philogene makes a good run to an unmarked West Ham back post. Found nicely and he hits on the one bounce, but fails to get it on target. West Ham survive.
90+4'
Onana with a smart pass back to Martinez who takes his time before lumping it forward. Villa hold up play through Rogers and Philogene momentarily but West Ham get it back. Desperately searching for an equaliser.
90+3'
Almighty scrap for the ball in the 6 yard box and Martinez ends up on the floor. Villa do eventually get it away and Duran wins a foul in the followup. Martinez happy to waste time here again.
90+2'
More pressure being thrown at the Villa defence as West Ham win a corner. JWP strides over to take and that usually means it'll be on the money.
