Well, the writing has been on the wall for Southampton for quite some time. They started off in horrific fashion under Russell Martin, and the loss against Spurs got him sacked. Now another loss against Spurs confirms their relegation. They haven't had anywhere near enough quality, and the appointment of Ivan Jurci out of nowhere, after he had been sacked by Roma, will go down as a drastically bad decision. It is a surprise that he is still in the dugout, but there is no point as sacking him now won't change anything. The Saints still have seven games left to try and get more points than Derby County did back in 2008. It is a campaign which fans will want to wipe from their memory before they get used to life back in the Championship.

SPURS STROLL TO THREE POINTS AND RELEGATE SOUTHAMPTON! Finally, the inevitable has happened and Southampton have officially been relegated. It has been on the cards for most of the season. Today, though, confirms that they are the earliest a side has ever gone down in Premier League history. Spurs strolled to three points thanks to two Brennan Johnson goals in the first half. One was an emphatic finish on his left foot and the other was a smart one on his right. In the second half, they didn't even bother trying and did have a scare due to Fernandes scoring from close range. However, Tel wrapped the game up with a penalty and his first goal in the Premier League. Spurs are now up to 13th place and have the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt next.
