Newcastle will be kicking themselves as they, of course, had a massive chance with the penalty. The former Everton man was brave enough to take it amid the chorus of boos, but it was a poorly taken spot-kick. He was the main man for Eddie Howe's side as they looked to him in the second half as well. Gordon did have the chance of the half after the break. He got on the end of Almiron's pass on the right side of the box. The angle wasn't the best, but he was still one-on-one with Pickford. He went for power, which meant the ball flew over the bar. If he had the chance back, he would have gone for accuracy, hitting it low into the bottom left corner. Almiron also had a half chance, which was blocked, but there was little attacking quality from Newcastle. Their dull start to the season, therefore, continues as Howe needs to come up with more ideas to bring back some free-flowing attacking football for The Geordies.
