Crystal Palace, on the other hand, will be frustrated with themselves for letting another lead slip this season and their quest for a first win of the campaign continues for another week. Their performance today showcased the trend of the Eagles playing well but failing to make it count and they slip to 17th place, only staying out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Sean Dyche's players were able to hold onto that lead for the first time this season, securing their first victory of the campaign. The victory sees the Toffees move onto four points, and leapfrog Crystal Palace into 15th place in the Premier League to help ease some of the pressure that was building at Goodison Park.
What a win for Everton! Oliver Glasner and his players started the game incredibly well and took an early lead through Marc Guehi in the 10th minute. They continued to attack well throughout the first half and should have perhaps been further ahead by the time the referee blew his whistle for halftime. The Toffees came out the blocks firing in the second half and two goals inside the first 10 minutes of the half from Dwight McNeil saw Everton take a surprise 2-1 lead.
