The victory elevates Chelsea into fourth place, putting them in a favorable position ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming match against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Newcastle continue to struggle, now winless in their last five Premier League games and sitting in 12th place. That wraps up this match, but stay tuned, as the highly anticipated clash between Arsenal and Liverpool is set to kick off shortly. Until next time, this is Sanil Karan signing off.
Chelsea came out strong in the second half, quickly regaining their lead just two minutes in when Cole Palmer drove through the Newcastle defense and fired a powerful shot past Nick Pope at his near post. Newcastle struggled to respond after falling behind so early. Then Alexander Isak nearly added to his tally when his cross almost crept in, but it was cleared off the line. Chelsea's midfield duo of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia controlled the game effectively, disrupting Newcastle's play, while Eddie Howe's triple substitution failed to ignite his team, leaving Isak as their only real threat. Despite Chelsea managing the game well and staving off a comeback, they were unable to secure a third goal, ultimately finishing the match with a narrow victory, but a victory nonetheless.
Chelsea came into the match against Newcastle with a strong start, unbeaten in six games at Stamford Bridge and led by captain Reece James, who was making his first home start of the season. The Blues quickly pressed forward, with Cole Palmer having a goal ruled out for offside before finding Pedro Neto, who assisted Nicolas Jackson for a well-deserved opening goal just after the quarter-hour mark. However, Newcastle responded effectively, threatening Chelsea's defense, and equalized in the 32nd minute when Lewis Hall's cross set up Alexander Isak for a simple tap-in, bringing the match back to level terms.

With Pope joining the attack for the corner, Newcastle commit everyone forward in a bold attempt to snatch a late equalizer. The delivery comes in towards Pope, but it's cleared at the near post just in time, denying Pope a chance to make an impact in the box.

Burn launches a long ball towards the left side of the box, where Willock waits. With a deft header, Willock redirects the ball across the face of goal, forcing Reece James to react quickly and head it out for a corner. This corner presents Newcastle with an opportunity to apply pressure as they seek an equalizer late in the match.

Nkunku initially breaks free and races forward, but he's quickly crowded out by Newcastle defenders. After a brief moment of confusion, referee Simon Hooper pulls play back to award a free-kick to Newcastle, but the delay in his decision leaves the home crowd feeling frustrated. The boos echo around Stamford Bridge as fans express their displeasure.

Following that delay, Nkunku showcases his determination by stealing the ball from Guimaraes, only to be penalized for a foul. The decision sparks outrage from Chelsea manager Maresca and the home crowd at Stamford Bridge, who feel aggrieved by the referee's call. To compound matters, Nkunku receives a yellow card for kicking the ball away in frustration, adding to the tension on the pitch.

NO PENALTY! Palmer showcases his skill with a clever touch to find Nkunku, who makes a swift run into the box. As he tries to maneuver past Burn, the Newcastle defender grabs hold of him, pulling him down and prompting the referee to point to the spot. It's a controversial decision, with many feeling it might be a soft penalty, leading to a VAR check that could determine the outcome of this crucial moment. VAR sends Simon Hooper to the pitchside monitor and he reverses his decision. Longstaff received a booking for complaining about the penalty but that will stand.
