That wraps things up here on Tribe, thanks for joining us. We've got one more game from the Premier League still to come tomorrow, as Bournemouth welcome West Ham. See you then.
Chelsea wrap up their UEFA Conference League league phase matches on Thursday night when Shamrock Rovers head to Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca will no doubt ring the changes for that while his regular league starters prepare for a trip to Everton next Sunday. Brentford will hope they can do better on the road at Newcastle on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, with a place in the last four at stake. They return to home comforts in the league against Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
Frustrations continue on the road for Thomas Frank and his Brentford side this season. This was a seventh defeat in eight away from home, and unless that record starts to improve the Bees are going to remain well outside the European conversation. They didn't create a great deal going forward tonight until changes late on, with substitutes Vitaly Janelt and Fabio Carvalho coming close. Another sub Kevin Schade created Bryan Mbeumo's 10th league goal of the season, but in the end it was all too little too late. Chelsea were the better side tonight and Brentford can have few complaints at this result.
Chelsea now have four points more than Arsenal and seven points more than Man City to comfortably sit 2nd in the Premier League table after 16 games. Enzo Maresca's side played with a freedom and quality here that demonstrated why they have to be considered potential title challengers this season. With Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho attacking down the flanks it didn't matter that Cole Palmer was kept fairly quiet tonight. Despite missing a flurry of chances including a sitter from six yards, Nicolas Jackson did eventually get his name on the scoresheet late on as well. It will cause some frustration that Chelsea weren't able to see out the clean sheet and make life easier for themselves in the final minutes. However another three points are in the bag and five straight wins going into the festive fixtures is a great position to be in.
Chelsea move within two points of leaders Liverpool after a fifth consecutive league win! Nicolas Jackson's strike added to Marc Cucurella's first-half header and seemed to have ensured a comfortable final period for the Blues. Bryan Mbeumo's late strike on the break made for a grandstand finish but Brentford couldn't find an equaliser and lose again on the road.
RED CARD! Marc Cucurella is shown a second yellow card after showing dissent to the referee by sarcastically clapping him before clashing with Kevin Schade and shoving him after the final whistle. That's a sour note on which to end the game from a Chelsea perspective. Kevin Schade is also shown a yellow card for his part in the coming together.

Sepp van den Berg kills all the momentum of the Brentford free kick by making contact with Marc Cucurella off the ball. The referee hands Chelsea a free kick of their own. Vitaly Janelt is incensed and lets the referee know about it. Janelt is shown a booking for dissent.
