That's it for this match, but stay tuned and quickly switch tabs to follow Ruben Amorim's first match as the head coach of Manchester United, who are traveling to Ipswich Town. That match starts soon and Elliot Thompson will have you covered with all the action here on Tribe. Until next time, this is Sanil Karan signing off.
In the second half, Southampton took the surprise lead through a clinical finish by Fernandes, set up by Armstrong and Dibling, but their momentum was short-lived as McCarthy's misjudgment allowed Salah to score following a through ball from Gravenberch. The goalkeeper was later fortunate to deny Díaz's header but failed to clear a dangerous ball, with Mac Allister’s strike narrowly missing. Southampton's fate was sealed when Sugawara handled in the box, giving Salah the chance to score from the penalty spot, securing Liverpool’s fifth consecutive win. Despite a valiant effort from Southampton, the loss leaves them with back-to-back defeats, while Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points.
Southampton proved resilient against Liverpool, with Mateus Fernandes testing the Reds early on and Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate both earning yellow cards for bookable challenges. Despite strong saves from Alex McCarthy denying Mohamed Salah and others, Liverpool broke the deadlock after a defensive error from Fernandes led to Dominik Szoboszlai’s brilliant strike. Southampton's fortunes took a further hit with Adam Lallana’s injury, but they responded when Andy Robertson fouled Tyler Dibling, allowing Adam Armstrong to convert folllwing the intitial penalty save.

Harwood-Bellis delivers a ball into the left side of the box, and Archer stretches to get his head on it, but he fails to make a solid connection. The ball drifts harmlessly out for a goal kick, and the chance fades.
