Liverpool have pushed 13 points clear at the top with another routine victory over Newcastle. Make sure you join us on Tribe tomorrow for more Premier League action between West Ham and Leicester City. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from Anfield this evening. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
Next up for Liverpool is a trip to the Parc des Princes for a mouth-watering Champions League Round of 16 tie with PSG this time next week. Meanwhile, Newcastle are in FA Cup action on the weekend, welcoming Brighton to St James Park for thr fifth round.
Newcastle would have been hoping to test the league leaders a lot more tonight, but they were simply overpowered and suffocated throughout. The loss of Isak was a killer blow, and Wilson struggled for the same accuracy, or threat up front. As a result, they had just three shots throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes, and struggled to get anything going. Eddie Howe's side failed to maintain a high intensity off the ball too, and they struggled to deal with the movement of their opponents across the pitch. It's a worrying sign for them ahead of the Carabao Cup final in 18 days time, and they'll have to be much improved against Liverpool if they are to get their hands on a trophy under the arches of Wembley.
Yet another champions performance from Liverpool this evening. They looked in control from start to finish, dictating over 60% of the possession, and creating quadruple the amount of efforts at goal compared to their opponents. Mo Salah and Luis Diaz were standouts, continually creating space down the flanks, whilst the likes of Gravenberch and Mac Allister allowed them to dictate through the middle of the park. It probably wasn't Liverpool at their best, with a couple of errors at times, notably through the first fifteen minutes of the second half. It didn't have to be though, and their clinicality and composure throughout proved decisive. There shouldn't be any stopping Liverpool on their way to the title now, and that makes it 24 Premier League games unbeaten.
Full-time at Anfield and Liverpool have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points with a comfortable two-goal victory over Newcastle. Dominik Szoboszlai set them on their way with an early strike inside the first eleven minutes, before Alexis Mac Allister sealed the three points with a second goal just after the hour mark. It's another step closer to a 20th English league title for the Reds, and they'll be firm favorites when they face Newcastle on a football pitch again, at Wembley Stadium for the Carabao Cup final in a few weeks time.
90+7'
Gakpo makes a run down the left, before cutting it back for Jones in midfield. Play is switched for Salah on the right, who wins yet another corner. This will be the final kick of the game, and Tsimikas plays it short for Jones, signalling the final whistle from the referee.
90+5'
Quansah sends the ball wide for Salah on the right, who cuts inside towards the edge of the box and settles for a corner off Hall. Szoboszlai comes across to take, but his delivery into the middle is swept away by Osula.
90+4'
Nunez and Jones trade passes inside the attacking half, as Liverpool continue to knock it from side to side. 'You'll Never Walk Alone' rings out across the ground from the fans now as the final whistle nears.
90+2'
Van Dijk and Tsimikas trade passes on halfway, before sending it all the way back for Alisson in goal. It's all about seeing this one out now, and most of the intensity and energy left the match a long time ago.
