Thank you for joining Tribe for this coverage as Arsenal begin the New Year with a massive away win in the title race. I've been Sanil Karan, and I’ll see you again soon. Goodbye for now.
Arsenal move within six points of Premier League leaders Liverpool, although they have played one game more than Arne Slot's side. Meanwhile, Brentford will be disappointed after suffering their fourth consecutive home defeat to Arsenal in their head-to-head encounters. Brentford will next travel to Southampton, hoping to bounce back, while Arsenal will face a trip to Brighton as they continue their pursuit of the top spot.
Arsenal turned the match around early in the second half, showcasing their set-piece prowess after Brentford failed to clear Ethan Nwaneri's corner, allowing Mikel Merino to slam in the loose ball. Just four minutes later, Nwaneri was involved again, delivering a cross that Nathan Collins could only head into the path of Gabriel Martinelli, who dispatched it beyond Brentford keeper Mark Flekken to give Arsenal a comfortable lead. Brentford struggled to regain the intensity they had in the first half, while Arsenal took control of the second half, dominating possession and play in front of a subdued crowd at the Gtech Community Stadium. With the game winding down, Mikel Arteta's side comfortably saw out the final stages, securing a crucial victory.
Despite a dominant spell of possession from Arsenal, it was Brentford who broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish from Bryan Mbeumo. The winger cut inside from the right flank and fired past David Raya at his near post, following a superb interception by Mikkel Damsgaard in midfield. Brentford almost doubled their advantage moments later when Raya nearly made a costly mistake, spilling a harmless shot from Keane Lewis-Potter before scrambling to recover the ball off the line. However, Arsenal responded quickly, and just minutes later, Thomas Partey's effort was parried by Brentford keeper Mark Flekken into the path of Gabriel Jesus, who made no mistake in nodding home to ensure the teams went into the break level.

In the final few minutes, Arsenal make a change, with Gabriel Jesus coming off for Oleksandr Zinchenko. The switch is aimed at solidifying their defense and seeing out the game.

WIDE! Jensen picks out Collins inside the right of the box with a well-weighted pass, and the defender rises to meet it with a header. However, Collins can’t generate enough power on the header, and it drifts wide to the right. It’s another chance gone begging for Brentford.
