Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers struck to see off a below-par Manchester City at Villa Park today; I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage; I’ve been Rory Morrow, and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - Both teams are back in action on Boxing Day as Villa take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park. Earlier on, City host Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
More of the same problems for Manchester City. Despite rejigging his defence, Pep Guardiola's backline still look incredibly vulnerable, as evidenced by both Villa goals. Whilst Grealish battled hard and looked good in the first half, City were stifled (again) creatively, with De Bruyne left as unused substitute in the midst of it all. Despite Foden's late strike, City were not anywhere near deserving of a draw and must go into Christmas reflecting on another damaging result.
Aston Villa fully deserved that win today. Efficient in both boxes, brilliant in midfield and clinical up front: they demonstrated the ruthlessness that Manchester City are currently lacking. Rogers was mesmeric in his dribbling at times, involved in both goals while the in-form Duran makes it four strikes in as many matches. The midfield three combined well throughout and for Villa, this is the perfect response to last week's loss at Nottingham Forest. As a bonus, they leapfrog City in the table with this win!
ASTON VILLA INFLICT ANOTHER DEFEAT ON MAN CITY - Time runs out for Manchester City, who never really got going at Villa Park today. They hogged the ball before half-time but fell behind when the unplayable Rogers released Duran for an easy finish. Then, the provider turned scorer midway through the second half as Rogers slotted in a second. Villa managed the game perfectly until late on when Foden capitalised on a kindly bounce to pull one back. But by then, the damage had already been done as City slip to another defeat.

McGinn clatters into Lewis on the left side of halfway. He gets a booking. Ortega sends the free kick up high where Konsa heads away for Villa on the edge of his own box, that will be that!

FODEN'S FINISH SETS UP A NEVRY FINALE - Perhaps a way back for Man City? Savinho creates the goal with an electric burst in-field, off the right wing, which sees him power the ball into the run of Foden. Torres initially holds him up but Torres' clearance ricochets off Digne, back into the path of Foden. He gobbles up the opportunity by clinically slotting into the bottom-right-hand-corner from six yards out!
