The game felt all but settled by halftime, with Leicester showing little sign of a comeback. However, they came out with some renewed energy, and Jamie Vardy was once again released through on goal. On this occasion, he managed to round goalkeeper Jose Sa, but with the angle tight, he could only fire into the side netting, missing a great opportunity to give Leicester a lifeline. Beyond that moment, though, Leicester failed to pose any real danger to Wolves, and their lack of attacking threat played a role in why Ruud van Nistelrooy chose to introduce Facundo Buonanotte off the bench. In reality, Leicester were fortunate not to fall further behind as Joao Gomes, unmarked inside the box, squandered a golden chance to add a fourth for Wolves, heading wide from just six yards out. By that point, with the game already effectively decided and the miss didn't impact the outcome, but it highlighted Leicester's woes on the day.
