Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as Erling Haaland’s early goal proved enough for Manchester City to finally get the better of Tottenham Hotspur this season, with a slender win tonight: I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage: I’ve been Rory Morrow, and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - With Spurs out of the FA Cup, they have just over a week to prepare for the Europa League knockout rounds, as they travel to Eredivisie outfit, AZ Alkmaar, for the first leg of their last 16 tie next Thursday evening. City, in the meantime, are in FA Cup action at the weekend hosting Championship side, who let’s not forget eliminated Liverpool, Plymouth Argyle in Saturday’s teatime match, for a place in the quarterfinals.
Far better from Manchester City, that, tonight. Pep Guardiola's men controlled the first half and should have been out of sight: Vicario pulling off some inspired saves to keep Spurs within one goal. Haaland, up front, showed no ill-effects on his return from injury whilst, out wide, City had two simply awesome wingers creating carnage with Doku and Savinho both enjoying themselves on the flanks. City remain uncertain at the back but Dias brought a bit of experience to their defending in the closing stages, Khusanov also looking as settled as he has been so far in a Man City shirt. Whilst still not perfect, Man City will be confident of picking up the points they need to secure a top-four finish, and the accompanying Champions League football, for next season.
Spurs's second half performance was excellent: They really attacked Man City, with vigour and should have levelled with Tel poking wide, Kulusevseki mis-controlling at close quarters and last-ditch City defending all costing them. However, they really sat off in the first half and, ultimately, that's what has cost them the game as a lethargic start was punished by Haaland's opening goal. The lowly Premier League standing continues in the bottom half of the table, making the Europa League increasingly important to both Spurs and Postecoglou's chances of this season being a success.
THE THREE POINTS ARE MAN CITY'S - Manchester City retain control of their top-four chase with an important victory in North London, this evening! They had to work very hard for it, though as Spurs pushed them all the way, Haaland's 12th-minute strike proving to be the difference. City, with Doku and Savinho to the fore, could have extended their lead before the break but were left clinging on at times in the second half, Tel missing from close range as Spurs' renewed intensity failed to bring them a leveller. For the first time in three meetings between the teams this season, it's Man City who emerge victorious!

CHANCE - Spurs go for it with Kulusevski rampaging down the right-side of the box. His ball in falls to Sarr, who can't keep his header on target, nodding it over the crossbar from inside the penalty area!

VAR DENIES HAALAND ANOTHER - Spurs, in their desperation to get forwards, cheaply give the ball away on the edge of their own box, Porro getting dispossessed by both the pressing Grealish and Haaland. It's sent centrally to Silva, who dinks a pass into Haaland's charge into the box. The ball bobbles up into the air, comes back off of Gray and falls to Haaland. He expertly holds off both Gray and Danso to sweep it into the bottom left corner from 12 yards out! VAR check, at great length, for a possible handball, though and, after several minutes reviewing the footage, they deem that the ball brushed off Haaland's hand as he controlled it and chalk the goal off!

Man City try to use up some more time with a late double change, as they empty the bench. Kovacic and Doku are removed as Gundogan and Grealish come on.
