The football keeps coming thick and fast for both sides, with United hosting Brighton at the weekend, whilst Southampton travel away to Nottingham Forest. That is all for now from Old Trafford though, where Amad Diallo was United's hero! This is Nicholas Friedlander signing out.

That is a brutal blow for Southampton. They were just over ten minutes away from a three points that would have given them geunine belief that they can pull off a great escape, but here we are again analysing another defeat. Simply put, they lack player quality, but their attack tonight was really bright. With better finishing, they could have been out of sight, but they left United in the game, and were punished for it. Defensively, they were reasonably good you felt, but they collapsed at the end, perhaps showing some inexperience.

Amad Diallo will get the plaudits no doubt, but this in many ways was a night of redemption. Joshua Zirkzee was undoubtedly a gamechanger, managing to create chaos when he replaced Rasmus Hojlund. Remembering he was hooked inside the first time last time out at Old Trafford, it was a remarkable showing. Christian Eriksen too, was shocking in that defeat to Newcastle, but provided a delicate assist for the go-ahead goal. They needed the win, and they have got it, but that performance for the most part was still well below par. They desperately need some new signings, but the sprouts of future success are there.

AMAD ENDING AT OLD TRAFFORD! Amad Diallo has scored a hat-trick in 12 minutes, has seen them secure a late come from behind victory at Old Trafford. They were tracking for what would have been a disastrous defeat to the bottom-placed club, but Amad dug them out, with a remarkable hat-trick from right wing-back no less, to surely end this talk of relegation once and for all.

Onana punts long, with Zirkzee flicking it on for Amad to have another go! United recycled it though, with Garnacho eventually working to the byline. With nothing on, he smashes it at Ramsdale, who tips behind for a corner... United send bodies forward, only for the referee to blow the full-time whistle!

AND THERE'S THE HAT-TRICK! REMARKABLE FROM AMAD! The little Ivorian has his third in 12 minutes! Southampton went back off a throw, with Ramsdale playing to Harwood-Bellis. He took a heavy touch, inviting the press from Amad, who pinched it from him, rolling into an empty net as Ramsdale had peeled wide and was looking the other way - remarkable!

Sugawara sends in an out-swinger, and it finds Harwood-Bellis who broke off! The connection was fairly decent, but it struck Downes, and rolled out for a tame goal kick...
