With that, I'll sign off. Thank you for joining Tribe for today's coverage of Southampton vs Newcastle in the Premier League. If you're still not satisfied, how about checking out the Manchester City vs Chelsea match, starting at 17:30 GMT. Until next time!
Southampton had the better possession (53% - 47%), but Newcastle had more shots (17 - 12), more shots on target (9-5), more corners (8 - 3), and generally looked far more dangerous with the ball than the home side today. Saints fans will say that Newcastle's equalising penalty was a lucky one, but Newcastle also hit the woodwork twice, and forced McCarthy into several good saves throughout the match. Southampton stay bottom of the table on 6 points, while Newcastle jump into 4th position on 41 points, winning 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions.
Having said that, Southampton thought they had pulled one back in the 84th minute, after an awful mistake from Schar; allowing McCarthy's long kick to bounce through to Fernandes, who powered home confidently. After a VAR check, he was deemed to be offside, and the goal was chalked off.
Leading at the break, Newcastle started the half as they did the first, pressing and playing at a high temp. They extended their lead in the 51st minute, with Tonali finishing a gorgeous move, with 1-touch passing from himself, Isak, and gordon. From then on, they rarely looked bothered by the Southampton pressure.
There's the final whistle, and Ivan Juric still hasn't won a single point as Southampton boss after 6 league games in charge. The Newcastle fans, who've had to make the enormous away day travel despite storm Eowyn causing havoc in the north of England, will be making the return journey in great spirits...and pints...and cans.
90+5'
Willock cuts inside from the left wing and shoots from 20 yards, but it's narrowly wide of the right post.
90+5'
Archer shoots from 25 yards out right of goal. Miles over. For all their possession, Southampton really haven't created enough tonight. Who's heard that one before?
90+2'
Newcastle shutting up shop now, filling midfield with fresh legs, but without much attacking threat.
