Thanks for joining me here on Tribe as Alexander Isak’s hat-trick helped Newcastle United hammer Ipswich Town at Portman Road this afternoon; I hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage; I’ve been Rory Morrow, and I look forward to seeing you again soon for another live text commentary!
Up Next - Ipswich are away at Arsenal on Friday night, travelling to the Emirates Stadium. Newcastle are at home the day before, taking on Aston Villa.
In contrast, a near-perfect day for The Magpies, who depart with three points, four goals and a clean sheet. Isak, who's been in-form lately, feasted on a disastrous defensive display from Ipswich but take nothing away from The Swede, who was ice-cool with each of his three finishes. Murphy also took his exquisitely whilst Gordon traumatised the home backline with his direct running. A clean sheet will also be welcome for Newcastle as they can head into Christmas, buoyed by successive four-goal league wins.
A bad day at the office for Ipswich, who remain winless at Portman Road this season. Having conceded so early, Ipswich initially showed some fight to come back into things, Szmodics creating a couple of chances that were spurned. They badly missed the presence of Delap up front, however and their defensive deficiencies were costly time and time again. Goalkeeper, Muric continues to unconvince while Ipswich's midfield was simply overwhelmed as Newcastle created chance after chance. They're at The Emirates next: it doesn't get any easier for Kieran McKenna as he searches for a way to restore confidence before that game.
NEWCASTLE HAMMER IPSWICH TO TAKE THE POINTS - Ipswich have been schooled by Newcastle, who rack up four goals in a ruthless manner to take all three points home with them. The first half was a disaster for Ipswich as they conceded inside a minute, Isak firing home the first of his three goals. Despite threatening to claw themselves level, Ipswich instead went two down when Murphy tucked away a fine finish. Isak gobbled up a defensive mistake before half-time to make it three and after the break, his clinical third earned him the match ball! Ipswich's defensive naiveties were badly exposed this afternoon and what this hammering will do to their confidence is anyone's guess: Either way, it's a big blow in their bid to avoid relegation.

VAR DENIES NEWCASTLE A FIFTH - Longstaff finds Tonali inside the centre circle. Tonali wriggles away from Morsy, passing back to Burn on the edge of the box. Burn picks out Hall to his left who locates Gordon, centrally who releases Barnes down the right wing. Bursting into the box, Burgess' block sends the ball back to Barnes. He centres it again, into the six-yard box. It hits Morsy and sits up perfectly for Burn to lash home from close range! But VAR check and quickly spot that Burn was offside, so the goal will not count.

As some home fans start to leave, having seen enough, Trippier brings Newcastle up to halfway down the right-hand-side. As Broadhead presses, Trippier calmly passes back to Schar, who finds Dubravka, on his own six-yard line as Newcastle's defenders comfortably pass the ball about between them.
