Brentford travel to Chelsea next while Newcastle United host Leicester City. That’s it for this match but be sure to switch tabs as Manchester United prepare to host Nottingham Forest, with the match kicking off very soon. Until next time, this is Sanil Karan signing off.
Thomas Frank’s men started the second half strongly, and their pressure almost paid off when Wissa’s deflected cross struck the woodwork, serving as an early warning for Newcastle. Less than ten minutes later, Flekken’s long, straight free-kick was allowed to bounce in the box, allowing Nathan Collins to apply a tidy finish and put Brentford ahead for a third time. Despite twice coming from behind, Newcastle appeared deflated, unable to resist Brentford’s relentless attacking. The visitors rallied in the closing stages, with substitute Sandro Tonali heading over from Isak’s cross, but it wasn't to be. Kevin Schade then sprinted through the Newcastle defense to score the fourth goal, sealing another emphatic home victory for the Bees.
The Bees took just seven minutes to take the lead in a pulsating first half, with Bryan Mbeumo curling a strike beyond Nick Pope after receiving a cross-field ball from Christian Norgaard. The opener caught the away side cold, but they responded quickly when Alexander Isak headed home Jacob Murphy’s shot to level the scores. Isak should have put his team in front midway through the first half, but delayed getting his shot away, allowing Flekken to avert the danger. Harvey Barnes was at the heart of all the action in the remaining minutes of the first half; his wayward pass went straight to Yoane Wissa, who replicated Mbeumo’s feat with an unstoppable strike beyond Pope. However, the Bees’ lead was short-lived as Barnes made amends by striking a low finish from a tight angle to level the scores once more. It was a goal that sparked a strong finish to the half for Newcastle, with Murphy heading wide from a good opportunity after excellent work from Barnes on the left wing.

Yarmoliuk is replaced by Maghoma at the very end to provide fresh legs for Brentford. Might not even get a touch, though.

SCHADE ICES IT! Norgaard finds Mbeumo at the top of the box, who quickly releases Schade. Schade manages to shake off Schar and break into the box. With a cool finish, he lobs the ball over the onrushing Pope and it rolls into the back of the net, sealing the game for Brentford.
