CHANCE! Vardy plays a smart pass to Kristiansen on the left side of the box, and his cutback finds Ndidi completely unmarked in the centre. With a clear sight of goal, Ndidi only has to finish, but he skews his shot wide of the right post. What a missed opportunity for Leicester to equalize.

PENALTY?! Mavididi plays a ball into De Cordova-Reid inside the box, and he goes down under the challenge of Lavia. However, the offside flag is raised immediately, signaling that the play will be reviewed. VAR is taking a closer look to determine if there was any reason to overturn the decision.

And we are underway as Chelsea take the kick-off to start the match. The ball is played back to Sanchez, who wastes no time launching it long downfield, looking to catch Leicester off guard. However, his pass lacks precision and sails straight over the opposite goal line, giving Leicester an early goal kick.

Palmer and Madueke combine well on the right, with Palmer eventually finding Felix inside the left side of the box. Felix takes a shot, but it's well blocked by Justin, who stands his ground to prevent any danger.

Chelsea have demonstrated their attacking ruthlessness in recent visits to Leicester, scoring three goals on each of their last two trips to the King Power Stadium. Such clinical displays will give Enzo Maresca confidence, but he will undoubtedly be eager for his side to seize control early in this encounter. An early lead would not only ease the pressure on the visitors but also allow them to dictate the tempo, further unsettling a Leicester side already struggling with form.

Ndidi plays the ball out to McAteer on the right, and he attempts to take on Cucurella. However, Cucurella stands his ground and does well to deny McAteer any space, ensuring he can't get past. McAteer is forced to retreat as Cucurella holds firm in defense.

Skipp is now shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Fernandez, coming in hard after the ball had already been played. The referee deems the tackle reckless, adding to Leicester's growing list of disciplinary issues in this match.

NO PENALTY! Mavididi makes a strong run down the left, cutting inside Fofana to enter the box. As he tries to maneuver, he goes down under what appears to be a soft challenge from Fofana. The referee waves away his claims for a penalty, and after a VAR check, the decision stands with no penalty awarded.

Another change for Chelsea as Jackson makes way for former Leicester player Dewsbury-Hall. The crowd at the King Power gives him a warm ovation, acknowledging his past with the Foxes.

Chelsea move the ball to the right, with Madueke attempting to combine with Palmer. However, Winks reads the play brilliantly, stepping in to intercept the pass and clearing the danger with a solid hack upfield.

Madueke earns a free kick on the right, giving Chelsea a chance to threaten. Palmer floats a precise cross to the far left side of the box, where Colwill rises to meet it and directs it back across the area. However, Okoli reacts quickly to clear the danger for Leicester.

Palmer picks out Cucurella on the left side of the box, and his cross is blocked by Justin. Palmer quickly gets to the rebound and looks to deliver another ball into the box, but once again, Justin is there to block it, denying Chelsea a clear-cut chance.

Madueke pounces on a loose ball and drifts inside from the right side of the box, looking to create another opportunity. He tries to square it across to Jackson, but the pass takes a deflection. Okoli is alert to the danger, just managing to head the ball clear before Jackson can get to it.

FRIENDLY FIRE! Fernandez picks out Jackson inside the left of the box, and his shot is well saved by Hermansen, who stands firm. The rebound falls to Palmer, who looks set to tap in, but in a bizarre twist, his effort hits his own teammate, Madueke. Madueke tries to move out of the way, but can't quite escape in time, and the ball drifts harmlessly out of play. A strange sequence of events there for Chelsea.

PENALTY TO LEICESTER! After reviewing the footage, VAR confirms that De Cordova-Reid was onside, and the penalty is awarded to Leicester. Lavia is shown a yellow card for the foul on the Leicester forward in the box.

As the teams head into the break, Leicester will need to be more clinical in the second half if they hope to get back into this game. Chelsea, on the other hand, will be pleased with their lead but will want to be more efficient in front of goal. It’s all still to play for in the second half as both teams look to gain the upper hand.

El Khannouss delivers a brilliant pass to McAteer on the right, but Cucurella anticipates it well and gets there first. The Chelsea defender then cleverly wins a foul after McAteer challenges him, slowing down Leicester's momentum. A smart and composed move from Cucurella to relieve the pressure. Quickly after, Sanchez is booked for time wasting. 

Chelsea win a corner on the right and Palmer teams up with Sancho to play it short, clearly looking to run down the clock. They maintain possession and move it around, frustrating Leicester as they try to close out the game. 

Felix plays a pass to Cucurella on the left, who delivers a cross into the box. However, it’s an easy header for Okoli, who clears the ball away from danger. Leicester defend well, but Chelsea continue to apply pressure in attack.

SHOT! Palmer drives forward through the middle and picks out Madueke on the right. The winger cuts inside and takes a shot at goal, but it's right at Hermansen, who makes a comfortable save. Leicester's goalkeeper holds onto the ball as Chelsea's pressure continues.

Fofana catches Soumare in midfield with a heavy challenge, and Soumare goes down, holding his right ankle in pain. After receiving some brief treatment on the pitch, he is able to get back to his feet, much to the relief of Leicester. He seems to be able to continue, but it was a moment of concern for the midfielder.

Vardy and McAteer link up well, with Vardy eventually receiving the ball inside the box. However, he struggles to find the space to get a shot off, and Badiashile seizes the opportunity, expertly robbing him of possession. Leicester's chance goes begging as Chelsea regain control.

Cucurella plays a switch to Colwill on the left, and he delivers a cross into the box. However, the ball is comfortably gathered by Hermansen, who claims it with ease.

Chelsea make two changes as Lavia and Nkunku replace Felix and Caicedo. 

Palmer wins a corner on the left for Chelsea, and Fernandez steps up to deliver the cross. However, Faes is first to the ball, rising above the crowd to head it clear and away from danger. Leicester successfully deal with the set-piece threat for the moment.

Chelsea work it to Cucurella on the left flank, who quickly finds Felix just outside the left edge of the box. Felix looks to create danger with a low cross into the area, but it’s comfortably gathered by Hermansen, who reads it well.

Chelsea win a corner on the right, and Palmer steps up to deliver it into the box. However, Skipp is positioned well at the near post and rises to head the ball clear, denying Chelsea any immediate threat.

The second half is underway here at the King Power Stadium, with Leicester City kicking off. They immediately launch the ball long, but Badiashile comfortably heads it away to clear the danger. Leicester, however, retain possession and win a throw-in on the left after Kristiansen’s effort to get past Madueke forces a challenge.

Palmer picks out Madueke on the right, and the winger looks to take on Kristiansen. However, Madueke gets a bit too eager with the dribble and overruns the ball, sending it out of play for a goal kick.

WIDE! Leicester win a free kick on the right, but the delivery comes to nothing, and Chelsea quickly launch a counter. Jackson carries the ball down the left and lifts a pass towards Madueke on the right side of the box. Madueke strikes it first time, but his effort is just wide of the right post.

CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: Enzo Maresca makes three changes to the lineup from the draw against Arsenal before the international break. Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandez, and Benoit Badiashile come in for Pedro Neto, Malo Gusto, and Romeo Lavia.

Leicester City likely found the international break far from a relief after their heavy defeat to Manchester United just before it. Adding to their woes, they received the devastating news that Ricardo Pereira will be sidelined for four months due to injury, leaving a big gap in their defense. To compound matters, manager Steve Cooper is under increasing scrutiny, with the team failing to win any of their last three Premier League games and now precariously sitting only three points above the relegation zone.

WIDE! Fernandez wins a corner on the right, giving Chelsea another chance to threaten. Palmer's delivery into the box is only partially cleared, with the ball landing at Felix's feet inside the left of the area. However, his shot lacks precision and is dragged harmlessly wide of the left post.

Soumare is fouled by Caicedo, giving Leicester a chance to deliver a set-piece into the box. The ball is floated in, and it looks like a straightforward claim for Sanchez, but the wind catches it, sending it over his head. Fortunately for Chelsea, the ball drifts out of play and Leicester’s opportunity is wasted.

Chelsea calmly retain possession at the back, showing no urgency as they look to close out the game. They are content to pass the ball around, ensuring Leicester have little opportunity to regain possession. 

Leicester’s lack of firepower has been a major concern, with the team managing to score just once in each of their five home league games this season. Their struggles in front of goal highlight a worrying inability to consistently create or convert chances when it matters most. 

Fernandez lifts a well-weighted pass to Madueke on the right, who does well to keep the ball in play near the touchline. He looks to cut inside and deliver a low cross, but Okoli is alert and clears it just in time. Kristiansen failed to track Madueke's run, allowing him the space to create the chance.

Ayew collects the ball on the right and attempts to take on Caicedo, but the Chelsea midfielder remains composed, standing his ground and successfully forcing Ayew to send the ball out for a goal kick. It's another solid defensive effort from Caicedo, who continues to keep Leicester's attacking threat at bay.

Enzo Maresca's return to the King Power Stadium started with Leicester sitting deep to nullify Chelsea's attacking threat, but it backfired as they surrendered a lot of chances. The Foxes were further dealt a blow with Harry Winks' injury, and Chelsea capitalized with a clinical finish from Nicolas Jackson after he shrugged off Wout Faes. Leicester's frustration grew with bookings for Ndidi, Soumare, and Skipp for tough tackles, while Chelsea continued to threaten, with Madueke seeing one effort saved and another goal ruled out for offside. Despite Chelsea’s dominance, Leicester showed some resilience towards the end of the first half, with McAteer and Ndidi coming close to an equalizer before the break.

CHELSEA GET THE CRUCIAL SECOND GOAL! Cucurella, unpressured just outside the box, floats a ball into the area for Jackson, whose header is straight at Hermansen. The Leicester goalkeeper saves the initial attempt, but Fernandez is quick to react, heading the rebound into the top left corner for Chelsea’s second goal. It’s a well-taken finish from Fernandez, pouncing on the loose ball to double Chelsea’s lead.

OFFSIDE! Palmer picks out Cucurella inside the left of the box, and his cutback finds Madueke, who slots the ball into the bottom right corner. However, the offside flag is immediately raised, with Cucurella having been offside in the build-up. VAR reviews the situation and confirms the referee’s decision, ruling out the goal.

WIDE! Palmer plays a clever pass to Cucurella, who finds space inside the left side of the box. Cucurella cuts the ball back into the area, but it’s only cleared as far as Caicedo. The midfielder takes a shot at goal, but he mishits it, sending the ball well wide of the right post.

Leicester make a double substitution as McAteer and Ndidi are replaced by Jordan Ayew and Isaac Mavididi. The hosts will be hoping these changes bring a fresh attacking dynamic as they look to get back into the game.

The move eventually breaks down as Leicester lose possession, much to the frustration of the fans. They needed to put pressure on Chelsea with a proper cross, but the opportunity slips away.

WIDE! Fernandez picks out Madueke on the right, who holds the ball briefly before laying it back to Fernandez just outside the box. The midfielder takes a quick shot, but it sails wide of the left post, missing the target. Another promising opportunity goes astray for Chelsea.

The home side had a slow start, struggling to get into the game as Chelsea dominated possession and created the better chances early on. Chelsea made their pressure count when Jackson opened the scoring with a well-taken finish, placing the ball into the bottom right corner with the outside of his boot. Leicester had been passive in the opening stages, unable to find any rhythm as Chelsea controlled the tempo of the match. The visitors were by far the more dangerous team, with numerous opportunities to extend their lead, including a disallowed goal for Madueke after an offside decision and several efforts from Fernandez and Jackson. However, despite being on the back foot for much of the first half, Leicester began to find their feet as the half wore on.

Leicester get their first opportunity to build an attack, but it falls apart quickly. El Khannouss picks up a loose ball in midfield and spots Vardy making an excellent unmarked run through the center, offering a promising chance. However, his attempted pass lacks accuracy and is easily intercepted by Colwill, allowing Chelsea to regain possession and defuse the threat.

Enzo Maresca departed the King Power Stadium over the summer to take charge of Chelsea, and he has quickly made his mark, guiding them to an impressive third place in the league standings. Despite a couple of draws leading into the international break, Chelsea’s performances under Maresca have been consistent and commanding. Returning to face his former club, Maresca will aim to extend Chelsea’s unbeaten run in their last six head-to-head encounters with Leicester, a streak that has seen Chelsea score more than two goals in each of the last three meetings.

Chelsea win a corner on the left, and after the referee intervenes to break up a scuffle in the box, Fernandez delivers the ball in. It meets the head of Fofana, but he heads it well wide of the right post. However, the referee had already spotted an infringement in the box by Chelsea anyways.

OVER! Palmer drives forward and lays it back for Nkunku on the edge of the box. Nkunku lines up the shot, but he blazes it high over the bar, sending it well off target. A disappointing finish to the attack as Chelsea fail to add another goal.

Towards the end of the half, Leicester started to grow into the game, showing a bit more attacking intent. McAteer had a good chance to equalize, but his shot went wide of the left post. Vardy also played a key role in helping Leicester gain some momentum, though their finishing let them down when Ndidi missed a golden opportunity inside the box. Still, there were signs of life from the home side, and they will feel encouraged by their late improvement.

Leicester make a double substitution as Vardy and El Khannouss are replaced by Daka and De Cordova-Reid. The fresh legs are brought on in an attempt to inject some pace and creativity into Leicester's attack. 

Leicester have completely lost their rhythm and are struggling to get a hold of the ball. In a moment of frustration, Ndidi takes out Palmer on the right, fouling him as he tries to make a run. The referee has no choice but to show Ndidi a yellow card for the reckless challenge. VAR checks if it were a red card challenge but it stays as yellow.

Leicester finally enjoy some possession and look to break down the left. Kristiansen tries to play a pass forward to El Khannouss, who is making a run ahead of him. However, Fofana reads the pass well and steps in to intercept, halting Leicester's attack.

Justin loses possession high up the pitch, allowing Palmer to collect the ball in midfield. Despite having the opportunity to launch a counter-attack, Palmer opts to play it backwards instead, slowing the pace of the game and maintaining possession for Chelsea.

Winks stays down after a physical challenge on Enzo Fernandez. The medical team is quickly called over as he appears to have picked up an injury to his left thigh.

Both teams are out on the field. Kick off is just moments away. 

Chelsea continued to dominate after the break, with Jackson's shot parried into the path of Palmer, whose shot hit his own teammate Madueke, before Fernandez sent another wide. Despite Leicester's struggles to create chances, they remained competitive, prompting Steve Cooper to introduce Mavididi and Ayew. However, Chelsea doubled their lead shortly after, as Fernandez capitalized on a rebound from a Jackson header saved by Hermansen. Leicester did manage to pull one back with a late penalty, converted by Ayew after Lavia fouled De Cordova-Reid, but Chelsea held on for the victory, ending their winless run in the league, while Leicester suffered their third defeat in four matches.

Sanchez passes to Caicedo, who is immediately under pressure from McAteer. The ball deflects off Caicedo and goes out for a Leicester corner. Caicedo protests, claiming he was fouled in the challenge, but the referee books him for his complaints. The corner comes to nothing.

CLOSE! Skipp finds McAteer just outside the box, and he quickly shifts the ball onto his left foot before aiming for the bottom left corner. His shot is close, but it just skims wide of the post. It's an encouraging effort from Leicester, showing a bit more attacking intent.

Daka wins a free kick off Lavia in the Chelsea half, giving Leicester a chance to deliver into the box. However, the resulting cross is poor, as the ball is sent too wide and goes straight out of play on the right. Leicester’s set-piece woes continue, with another opportunity wasted.

OVER! Leicester manage to clear a initial corner off the right, but the ball falls straight to Felix on the edge of the box. He strikes a sweet volley with power and precision, but unfortunately, it sails just over the bar, missing the target by a narrow margin. Chelsea come close again, but it remains goalless.

Felix makes a strong break forward and picks out Madueke on the right. Madueke cuts inside and takes a shot towards the left side of the goal, but Hermansen is quick to push it away with a solid save. The referee then goes back to penalize Souamare, who had lunged in and caught Felix in the build-up, showing him a yellow card for the reckless challenge.

AYEW GETS ONE BACK! IS IT JUST A CONSOLATION?! Ayew steps up confidently to take the penalty and shoots towards the left of the goal. Sanchez gets a hand to it but can’t keep it out as the ball nestles into the net. Leicester are back in it, with just a goal separating the two sides now.

LEICESTER CITY TEAM NEWS: Steve Cooper makes four changes from the defeat to Manchester United, with Bilal El Khannouss, Kasey McAteer, Caleb Okoli, and Jamie Vardy coming in for Jordan Ayew, Facundo Buonanotte, Issahaku Fatawu, and Jannik Vestergaard.

Faes lunges in and catches Jackson in midfield, leaving the referee with no choice but to book him for the foul.

CHELSEA STRIKE FIRST! Faes fails to clear the danger after a long pass, and Fernandez is quick to capitalize on the mistake. He slides the ball to Jackson, who takes a quick touch to set himself up. With composure, the striker uses the outside of his foot to prod the ball into the far bottom right corner.

Sancho comes on to replace Madueke for Chelsea in the closing stages of the match. The change looks to add fresh legs to the attack as Chelsea look to see out the game.

The substitution is confirmed as Skipp comes on to replace the injured Winks.

Leicester come forward with some intent, but El Khannouss loses the ball cheaply, gifting possession back to Chelsea. The visitors quickly push forward again, continuing to dominate the play. The only silver lining for Leicester at this point is that they’re only one goal behind, given how poorly they've performed so far.
