Liam Delap drives forward down the right wing on this occasion, before looking to play in Omari Hutchinson on the opposite wing. However, the cross lacks the necessary power needed to beat Tosin Adarabioyo, who comfortably heads back to his own goalkeeper.

Enzo Fernandez crosses from deep towards Joao Felix on the left, but the cross has too much height on it and Felix can only head the ball well over. That should be the final action of this first half...

Delap is cautioned after trying to delay the restart of play.

A long ball from Tosin Adarabioyo is superbly brought down by Cole Palmer, who then finds Joao Felix in a pocket of space just outside the edge of Ipswich's penalty area. However, Felix cannot generate enough power on his shot, allowing Christian Walton to dive to his left and make a relatively comfortable stop.

Chelsea resume control of possession, with Ipswich sitting deeper and deeper as we approach the final stages of the first half. The visitors bide their time, before Noni Madueke's in-swinging cross is headed away powerfully by an Ipswich defender.

Ipswich just about scramble the ball behind to concede another corner, after the header was won by a Chelsea player. Walton was able to make some contact with the ball, with a circle of Ipswich defenders around him to protect the goal area.

DISALLOWED! Chelsea break forward with intent, immediately after defending the Ipswich free kick in a deep defensive position. Cole Palmer drifts into space on the right flank, before picking out Joao Felix with a cross from deep towards the far post. Felix connects with the ball just after it bounces, sending the ball past Christian Walton and into the roof of the net from just outside the six yard box. A lengthy VAR review ensues and eventually, the goal is ruled out for an offside against Felix!

Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton now gets a few early touches of the ball, with the Tractor Boys looking to play out from the back. An aggressive defensive press from Chelsea then forces Walton to go long.

CHANCE! Nathan Broadhead sees his low shot from close range towards the bottom left corner stopped by a smart save by Filip Jorgensen.

JORGENSEN DENIES DELAP! Hutchinson closes down Cucurella this time and the deflection finds its way to Liam Delap inside the penalty area. Acting instinctively, Delap fires a powerful shot on target, but Jorgensen reacts well to dive to his right and parry the ball away! Ipswich were almost in dreamland!

A few words are exchanged between the two sets of players at the final whistle, with Morsy the person singled out as instigator and booked.

Cole Palmer lifts the ball into the box in one final Chelsea attack, but Jacob Greaves climbs highest to head the ball clear.

Frustrations boil over for Chelsea, with both sets of players coming together in unsavoury scenes. The referee flashes a yellow card at Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez for his role in the scuffles.

Malo Gusto's deflected cross from the right is easily gathered by Christian Walton, who takes his time before playing the ball short to Jacob Greaves.

Chelsea bide their time with possession at the back, with Ipswich holding a structured defensive formation, ready to pounce at any given opportunity. There are some welcome early touches for incoming Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen during this slow passage of play.

The game turns a little scrappy momentarily, with both teams giving away possession cheaply in the middle third of the pitch.

OFF THE BAR! A blistering Chelsea attack then sees the ball cut back to Cole Palmer in a central position, just outside the edge of the penalty area. He looks to place the ball with his left foot, but Christian Walton gets a fingertip to the ball, which then hits the top of the crossbar! Chelsea will have a corner, as they look for an equaliser inside first half stoppage time.

BLOCKED! Wes Burns dispossesses Joao Felix and Ipswich burst forward down the right. Omari Hutchinson takes on Levi Colwill to the outside, before cutting the ball back. Nathan Broadhead strikes the ball low from ten yards out, but it's superbly blocked by Tosin Adarabioyo just in front of his goal line!

Christopher Nkunku is upended by Jens Cajuste just outside Ipswich's penalty area in a central position, giving the visitors a great opportunity from the free kick. Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix are all in place to take the free kick.

FORMER CHELSEA PLAYER HUTCHINSON DOUBLES IPSWICH'S LEAD! Axel Disasi makes a terrible mistake to gift the ball to Liam Delap by halfway. Liam Delap then drives at Tosin Adarabioyo, before turning back and squaring the ball to Omari Hutchinson. He takes the ball onto his left foot, before producing a low reverse shot from twelve yards out into the bottom right corner!

A loose touch from Noni Madueke on Chelsea's right wing throws away possession, with Ipswich restarting play with a throw-in midway inside their own half.

Liam Delap goes all alone in attack for Iposwich, with three Chelsea players tracking him from halfway. He finds the space to shoot from a narrow angle to the right of goal, which forces Filip Jorgensen to tip the ball behind for an Ipswich corner. It's yet another superb piece of attacking play from Delap!

Ipswich hold a valuable one goal lead as we head into the half-time break. It was an energetic start from the Tractor Boys, who applied high defensive pressure on the Chelsea defence from kick off. Liam Delap got straight to work on the Chelsea defence, using his physical presence to make the evening as uncomfortable as possible for the likes of Adarabioyo and Colwill. It was Delap who was heavily involved in the game's only goal so far, as he latched onto the end of a Leif Davis through ball ahead of Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. His momentum caught Delap and the referee awarded the spot kick, which was emphatically converted by Delap.

Luke Woolfenden successfully shields the ball out of play for an Ipswich goal kick, preventing Marc Cucurella from latching onto the end of the attempted Chelsea pass.

Kieran McKenna makes a defensive change for Ipswich, with Ben Johnson on for Wes Burns inside the latter stages of the game.

Moises Caicedo's attempted forward pass from midway inside Ipswich territory is blocked by Dara O'Shea on the edge of his penalty area, before Chelsea recycle possession back towards the halfway line.

Tosin Adarabioyo heads the ball away at the near post for another Ipswich corner, after a dangerous in-swinging delivery from the left.

The huge win for Ipswich brings them up to 15 points, now just one point adrift of safety. It's a great result which ends a great 2024 for Ipswich, who returned to the top flight after a long hiatus. They will be hoping to kick off 2025 just as they ended 2024, when they face Fulham next up. Meanwhile, Chelsea will look to avoid a third successive defeat when they travel the short distance to Crystal Palace in their first outing of 2025.

The festive football keeps flowing, with games coming thick and fast as we round out the calendar year. After a fifth defeat in sixth games to Arsenal last time out, Ipswich come into this game four points adrift from safety. So regardless of tonight's result, The Tractor Boys will end 2024 in the relegation zone. However, to their credit, Ipswich have managed to keep the goal deficit to just one in four of those five defeats, showing that they can keep themselves in contention for the full game. A four goal humbling at home to Newcastle United was the only blowout that Ipswich have suffered in recent matches.

Omari Hutchinson pinches the ball off Christopher Nkunku, after another loose touch lets the Chelsea striker down. However, Chelsea quickly regain possession and resume their attack inside the Ipswich half.

Chelsea continue to operate firmly inside Ipswich territory. A cross from Noni Madueke on the right is partially cleared, but Chelsea retain possession. Joao Felix then tries to break through a wall of Ipswich defenders on the edge of the penalty area, but eventually runs out of room.

Liam Delap tussles with Tosin Adarabioyo and earns a free kick from the referee. Delap has caused all sorts of problems for the Chelsea defence so far in this game, thanks to his physical presence.

After a foul is committed by Malo Gusto on Leif Davis, the Ipswich full back holds onto the ball on the ground. Gusto takes offence and wants to restart play quickly. His decision to try and grab the ball off Davis sparks an intense pushing and shoving match, which leads to yellow cards for the pair.

A diagonal ball over the top finds Omari Hutchinson on the left wing. He looks to knock the ball past his opponent, before going to ground far too easily after minimal contact. The referee is having none of it and awards a goal kick to Chelsea.

Wes Burns does well to beat Marc Cucurella to the Chelsea pass down the left wing, before completing the clearance.

Malo Gusto wins the initial battle for possession ahead of Liam Delap, who just won't go away. Gusto is forced back towards his own corner flag, before his attempted clearance deflects off Delap and out of play for a Chelsea goal kick.

Chelsea get the second half underway! Both teams remain unchanged at the break. Christopher Nkunku goes down in a heap, after an aerial battle with Ipswich defender Jacob Greaves. The game eventually resumes with a drop ball.

OFF THE LINE! Noni Madueke lays off Enzo Fernandez to the right of goal, who clips a cross from the byline to Joao Felix at the far post. His powerful header is cleared off the line by Jacob Greaves, as Ipswich continue to hold on to their slender lead! The frustration on the face of Felix is evident, who has seen a number of promising chances go begging this evening.

Chelsea remain on the front foot, with every Ipswich player back inside their own half to defend. Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho combine smartly, but the latter's shot is blocked on the edge of the penalty area.

Hello and welcome to live Tribe coverage of this Premier League clash between Ipswich and Chelsea. I'm Zak Brown and I will be bringing you all the action as it unfolds at Portman Road.

Levi Colwill's long pass down the left looks for the run of Marc Cucurella, but the ball runs out of play to give Ipswich a throw, midway inside their own half.

OFF THE POST! It's Palmer who sets the free kick to Fernandez, who sets the ball back immediately. Palmer then whips a free kick around the wall, with his left foot, but his shot crashes off the inside of the left post and back into play! Ipswich then survive the rebound and just about maintain their one goal lead.

Ipswich break forward on the counter attack and Liam Delap is found in space on the right channel. With no team-mates in immediate support, Delap takes the ball around the outside of Adarabioyo, before seeing his shot towards the near post palmed away by Filip Jorgensen. Ipswich will have a corner, after surviving a sustained spell of pressure applied by Chelsea.

A Chelsea corner from the left is swung in towards the near post, but Jacob Greaves heads the ball behind to concede another corner.

Cole Palmer drops deep to pick up the ball inside his own half, as he looks to create an opportunity for Chelsea in these late stages of the first half. But he inexplicably throws away possession with a loose pass to Joao Felix, allowing Omari Hutchinson to pick the ball up on the right wing by halfway.

Chelsea lacked a clinical touch this evening and their five changes failed to prevent a second loss on the spin. Noni Madueke and Joao Felix looked dangerous in patches, but incomers Christopher Nkunku and Axel Disasi both put in sub-par performances and were subsequently replaced in the second half. Meanwhile, incoming goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen had a decent game, although was at fault for the first half penalty conceded. The likes of Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto were unable to make an impact off the bench, leaving Chelsea now ten points off league leaders Liverpool, having played a game more.

CHANCE! It falls to pantomine villain Cucurella, after some nice work from Noni Madueke and a blocked shot from Joao Felix. Space opened up for Cucurella to shoot from just inside the Ipswich penalty area, but he blasts the ball wide of the right post, much to the delight of the Ipswich fans!

Pedro Neto's shot from the right edge of the penalty area deflects off team-mate Enzo Fernandez. Nicolas Jackson is unable to keep the ball in play and Ipswich win a much-needed goal kick.

IPSWICH EARN THEIR FIRST LEAGUE HOME WIN OF THE SEASON! The Tractor Boys grinded for the full game, sometimes riding their luck but also showing their grit to keep the star studded Chelsea attack at bay. Liam Delap was the outstanding performer this evening. He roughed up the Chelsea defenders, he brought Ipswich forward on several counter attacks and mustered chances from nothing. As well as that, he helped himself to a goal and an assist. He converted a penalty in the 12th minute to give his side the lead, before turning provider early in the second half, in a rapid counter attack that was finely finished by Omari Hutchinson.

Chelsea pile on the pressure once more, but plays slows down when Nkunku lets the ball slip away from his foot. He then passes across the top of the box to Axel Disasi, who blasts high and wide from the edge of the penalty area.

The last time they two sides met was way back in 2011, when Chelsea ran out 7-0 winners in an FA Cup tie at Stamford Bridge. The Tractor Boys will be hoping that it won't be as much of a 'rollover' for The Blues tonight!

Omari Hutchinson looks to charge down Marc Cucurella once more, as the Chelsea full back attempts to clear a bouncing ball. Cucurella goes down in a heap, as the Ipswich faithful claim that he had gone down far too dramatically. Hutchinson protests his innocence, claiming that he never made contact with Cucurella. The referee does a good job of calming both sets of players down, before taking no further action against Hutchinson.

Cole Palmer's cross from the right almost catches Christian Walton off guard, but the Ipswich goalkeeper adjusts quickly to make a successful catch on his goal line.

DELAP CONVERTS EMPHATICALLY! As soon as the referee's whistle goes, he steps forward with authority and finds the bottom left corner with a powerful strike. Jorgensen guesses the correct way, but the power and accuracy of Delap's penalty is unstoppable!

Chelsea control possession just inside the Ipswich half, with the hosts sitting slightly off. Dara O'Shea then steps out of line, attempting to win the ball ahead of Joao Felix. But the Chelsea winger reads the play and flicks the ball around the corner, before taking the brunt of O'Shea's challenge. It will be a free kick to Chelsea in another promising position, whilst O'Shea is awarded the first yellow card of the evening.

Sam Morsy draws a foul midway inside his own half for his Ipswich side, giving them a welcome breather early in this second half.

Noni Madueke drifts in a left-footed cross from the right wing towards the far post, where Joao Felix and Marc Cucurella are lurking. Felix of Chelsea and O'Shea of Ipswich both jump for the ball, which then bobbles out of play. The referee awards a goal kick to Ipswich, to the dismay of Marc Cucurella!

Liam Delap continues to work tirelessly for Ipswich, bringing the ball out from defence into attack. Moises Caicedo commits a cynical foul, barging Delap over from behind. That foul sees him pick up a yellow card.

Tosin Adarabioyo clips a pass from just inside the Ipswich half beyond the Ipswich defence looking for Joao Felix, but it's a wasteful pass. The home side can comfortably watch the ball bounce out of play for a goal kick.

IPSWICH TEAM NEWS: Kieran McKenna makes four changes from the side that started in the away defeat to Arsenal last time out. Christian Walton will make his first start since Round 1 between the sticks, replacing Arijanet Muric who drops to the bench. Sam Morsy returns from suspension, Wes Burns is recalled to the starting lineup and Nathan Broadhead is awarded his first start of the campaign. Kalvin Phillips, Ben Johnson and Sammie Szmodics all drop to the bench to make way.

He cuts inside for a shot with his favoured left foot, but it is well blocked by Leif Davis inside his own penalty area.

Joao Felix is fouled once more in a central position, albeit closer towards the halfway line. This time it's Sam Morsy who is the guilty party. Chelsea take a quick free kick on this occasion.

Chelsea make their second change of the evening, with Jadon Sancho on for Christopher Nkunku. That change should see Nicolas Jackson lead the line, with Sancho operating on the left wing, just as Joao Felix did in the first half.

Ipswich get the game underway! The ball is immediately launched long and Leif Davis is able to control the loose ball in an advanced position on the left. His low cross is scrambled away at the front post.

PENALTY TO IPSWICH! Leif Davis slides a pass from the left wing to the run of Liam Delap, who slides in to pinch the ball ahead of Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. As Delap gets back to his feet, the momentum of Jorgensen's dive catches the Ipswich striker and sends him crashing back to the ground. The referee takes a moment, before awarding the penalty!

Cole Palmer goes over near the byline on the left wing under a challenge from an Ipswich defender, but the referee awards a goal kick to Ipswich. That decision adds further to the frustration of Chelsea's evening.

Chelsea grew into the game and almost drew level midway inside the first half, but Joao Felix was narrowly caught offside after a smart cross from Cole Palmer on the right. From that point onwards, Chelsea continued to assert their dominance and probably should have drawn level with the number of chances they created, but Ipswich hung on. Meanwhile, Liam Delap forced Filip Jorgensen into a couple of smart saves to keep the goal deficit to just one.

Levi Colwill is also cautioned, after his protests at having to leave the field for a perceived head injury. It has been a frustrating night for Chelsea, who are starting to let their discipline slide.

There are a flurry of changes from both sides, with Malo Gusto and Pedro Neto on in straight swaps for Axel Disasi and Noni Madueke for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips and Sammie Szmodics provide fresh legs for Ipswich, replacing Jens-Lys Cajuste and Nathan Broadhead.

The atmosphere is building nicely at Portman Road, with the players almost set to emerge onto the pitch. Can Ipswich finally claim their first league home win of the season? Or will Chelsea bounce back immediately after their recent setback? Stay tuned to find out, kick off is just minutes away!

Meanwhile, Chelsea saw their unbeaten run come crashing to an end at the hands of West London rivals Fulham in their most recent encounter. Despite leading for much of the game after Cole Palmer's opening goal, The Cottagers struck twice in the latter stages of the game to steal all three points. The Blues were undefeated in 12 games prior to that and will be hoping to get back on track with a positive result this evening.

Jadon Sancho drifts inside from the left, before laying the ball off to Enzo Fernandez in a central position on the edge of the penalty area. But his shot flies off target, bringing a huge roar from the home support, who feel like they are almost there!

Enzo Maresca makes an immediate change after seeing his side go two goals down. Joao Felix is replaced by striker Nicolas Jackson, who will join Christopher Nkunku in attack.

CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: Enzo Maresca makes five changes to his starting lineup for tonight's clash. Filip Jorgensen, who has mainly started in goal in the cup competitions this season, is called up to the starting eleven in place of Robert Sanchez. Axel Disasi replaces Malo Gusto in defence and there are fresh legs in Chelsea's attack. Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Nicolas Jackson all drop to the bench, making way for Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku.

Filip Jorgensen just about keeps the ball in play, after Nathan Broadhead's attempted cross from the left is deflected off Axel Disasi.

Nicolas Jackson blows a one-on-one chance against Christian Walton, putting the ball wide from twelve yards out! But his blushes are somewhat spared when the linesman's flag goes up for offside.

Chelsea settle into some possession around halfway, before Joao Felix looks to create an opportunity with a through ball that splits the Ipswich defence. However, there is no Chelsea runner on the end of the pass and Ipswich regain possession easily.
