Thank you for joining us at Craven Cottage for our coverage of Fulham vs Ipswich Town. If you want to follow the Liverpool vs Manchester United match, the good news is that it is ON! The north of England has been covered in snow, which left a lot of people worrying about a possible postponement, but the pitch is cleared and kick off is at 4:30 GMT. See you there!
Ipswich's game plan almost played out perfectly. After leading at half time with their sole shot on target, they consistently countered Fulham well, with Delap especially causing the Fulham defence difficulties. The one criticism you could throw at them would be that at 2-1 up, they were perhaps a bit naive. Clarke was bearing down on goal (and hit the post with a rasping drive), but Leif Davis didn't need to support that attack. He could've decided to stay back; make sure they saw out the last few minutes. Ipswich stay in 18th place with 16 points, only behind Wolves on goal difference, and only 1 point behind Everton!
Fulham were excellent for large periods of today. They dominated possession throughout, spent most of the match putting pressure on Ipswich in the final third, and fought back from a goal down twice. That's 8 games unbeaten for them now, with 6 of those draws. They remain in 9th place on 30 points.
I mentioned earlier that Marco Silva was about to explode with frustration, and I bet his post-match interviews will be fun. He clearly felt several huge decisions went against his team today: the referee not giving a red card when Wilson seemed to be through on goal, not awarding Fulham a penalty when Wilson was tripped in the Ipswich box (which was overturned by VAR), then Ipswich winning a soft penalty immediately afterwards. Someone give him some camomile tea or something.
And breathe! What a second half we just had. The first half was careful and tactical, the second ended up being chaotic! Credit to both teams, who would not let each other settle for a second.
90+8'
Leno sends in a free kick from the Fulham half into the Ipswich box. No-one heads the ball, it lands at the feet of Muniz, who's 12 yards out but wide to the right, and he shoots straight at Walton in goal.
90+7'
Yet another penalty shout for Fulham, but the ball has come off the defender's body.
90+6'
Mistake by Ipswich! Taylor plays the ball back to Walton from 35 yards away but Jimenez is right there!! He slides in to challenge but it's just beyond his reach.
90+5'
Easily cleared by Ipswich but Fulham keep the pressure on, before fouling Greaves on the edge of the Ipswich box. Pressure relieved.
