Villa’s first win in eight matches has lifted them above Brentford and back into the top half of the table. With a win over bottom-placed Southampton on Saturday, they could rise as high as 5th. Meanwhile, Brentford remain without a league win at Villa Park, and their poor away form will need significant improvement if they are to mount a serious challenge for European qualification. They will look to bounce back when they host Newcastle United next.
The second half saw Brentford come out with more intent. Damsgaard's goal gave them a glimmer of hope and they began to see more of the ball, pressing Villa higher up the pitch. However, despite some promising moments and a few chances, they could not find more goals, and Villa's defense held firm under pressure, with key interventions from Konsa and Mings. This result marks another disappointing road loss for Brentford, who have struggled to find consistency away from home this season. Villa, on the other hand, will be pleased with their performance, getting back to form with a solid win. Unai Emery's side will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push for the European places.
It’s all over at Villa Park, and Aston Villa secure a much needed victory over Brentford, with all three points staying at home. Goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Matty Cash in a dominant first-half put Villa firmly in control. Despite a more resilient second-half performance from Brentford, which saw Mikkel Damsgaard score a well-taken goal, they were unable to capitalize on their improvements, leaving Villa with a deserved win. Villa's first-half performance was clinical and commanding, with Rogers opening the scoring early, followed by Watkins and Cash finding the net to build a commanding lead. Brentford struggled to break Villa’s defensive structure, and while they had moments of possession, they were unable to create clear-cut chances. Villa’s attacking play, spearheaded by the trio of Rogers, Watkins, and Bailey, was too much for Brentford to handle in the opening 45 minutes.

OVER! Thiago wins the ball high up the pitch on the left and quickly delivers a cross into the box. Konsa gets his head to it, clearing the danger, but the ball falls to Janelt just outside the box. Janelt attempts a half-volley, but his shot sails well over the bar.

Villa are now content to keep possession in their own half, expertly slowing the game down and draining any remaining hope from Brentford. The visitors struggle to regain the ball, unable to break Villa's patient and controlled play.

Maghoma pulls off a clever turn in midfield before releasing Mbeumo on the right. Mbeumo looks to take on Digne, but the Villa full-back shows great strength and composure to block his progress and get the ball out of play.

Villa retain possession as Barkley takes a crack at goal from distance, but Collins is quick to block the shot. The ball then goes out for a corner on the right, but the resulting delivery fails to threaten, and Brentford clear their lines with ease.
