That wraps things up here on Tribe, thanks for joining us. Liverpool continue to highlight their title credentials with another three points, but there's four more Premier League games still to come tomorrow. Join us then for all the action.
Liverpool return to action with a trip to bottom side Southampton in a fortnight, before hosting Real Madrid in their next Champions League encounter. They lead Manchester City by five points now after their earlier defeat at Brighton. Aston Villa drop to 8th could fall two further spots depending on results elsewhere tomorrow. They welcome Crystal Palace next up, before hosting Juventus in a huge Champions League clash.
For Aston Villa it's been a very difficult week. Away trips to Spurs and Liverpool either side of a trip to Club Brugge in the Champions League has really stretched them, and they look a side lacking in confidence. Morgan Rogers tried to spark Villa with his dribbles and creativity in attacking midfield, but Leon Bailey and Jacob Ramsey then John McGinn struggled to offer much going forward. Ollie Watkins had very little service, and Jhon Duran similarly struggled to impact the game when he replaced him. Unai Emery's side are still in a decent league position in 8th, and are well-placed to progress in the Champions League. They will look to turn things around when they regroup to host Crystal Palace in a fortnight.
Liverpool head into the November international break after a fantastic month for them in all competitions. They have won six and drawn one of their seven games to lead both the Premier League and Champions League tables. Tonight they were full value for all three points, creating the better chances and dominating possession. Villa were defensively resilient and organised in the second half, but Liverpool stayed patient and Mo Salah took his chance when it presented itself late on. The early injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold didn't worry them, and Darwin Nunez could have added to his opener with several decent opportunities before he came off. Slot will now hope his side can stay healthy as they depart across the globe for the next fortnight.
A fine win for Liverpool takes them five points clear at the top of the Premier League. This was a professional, clinically taken victory sealed late on by Mo Salah after another break from a Villa corner. Unai Emery's side fall to a third defeat in a week in all competitions.
