That wraps up our coverage of this one. Nathan here signing off for the evening. Thanks for tuning in.
All this after a first half which saw the Seagulls score an opportunistic opener before a pair of controversial VAR checks denied and then provided a penalty to Villa in quick succession. Both sides had their periods of dominance, Villa probably had the better quality of chances but all told, either team could have won it.
A thoroughly entertaining game which leaves both sides frustrated with a point. Villa dominated the end of the first half and the start of the second, deservedly scoring twice to take the lead. Watkins' hold-up play and Bailey's runs from deep created havoc. Brighton had to respond, and they duly did with a triple change. It worked wonders, Mitoma and Minteh causing problems of their own out wide. Brighton secured an equaliser and, in the end, created enough chances to take the three points themselves.

OVER THE BAR! Brighton win the race to the corner at the near post but the clearing header only goes as far as Watkins still inside the box. He cushions the ball down to his feet but, always leaning backwards, he can only blaze over with his right boot. That probably is the last chance either side will have.

Barkley could shoot from the edge of the box but he spreads it wide instead. Maatsen tries to cross and sees his attempt blocked behind for a corner. One last chance?
90+4'
Wasteful. Mitoma again takes up a dangerous position with his run down the left. He turns on the byline, finding Igor back inside. He tries to cross towards the back post but balloons his effort out of play.
90+2'
CHANCE! Watkins could have won it. Advantage is played after Igor tried, and failed, to cynically haul down Rogers and kill a break. He stays on his feet, sending Watkins into space inside the box. He takes too long on the ball as he allows indecision to creep in, giving Brighton enough time to get back and block. Igor is booked for the foul in the build-up.

BLOCK! Minteh again finds himself in space down the right. He feeds O'Reilly on the edge of the box who sees his shot blocked. Brighton appeal for handball but the claims are waved away.
