The midfield for the home side are struggling at the minute. Palace's front three are putting a lot of pressure on every second ball and that's proving a lot to deal with for QPR. They won't be able to move it forward effectively without finding success in the middle of the park. 

Palace press from the front and they win it back. QPR have numbers back though and Ashby does a good job of stifling the threat with Palace just beginning to tick down the left hand side. Good piece of defending. 

Hello and welcome to Tribe for live coverage of the EFL Cup. I'm Elliott Johns and I'll have all the action for you as it unfolds live between QPR and Crystal Palace. 

Played over the top for Celar to chase but Henderson comes out of his box to avert the danger. Good poise in an uncomfortable spot for the Palace keeper. 

Nketiah gets in behind the defence and looks to dribble around the keeper. Walsh does very well to get a big hand on it though and the offside flag is raised eventually. Tight one but just about off.

More on Palace now. They were one of the most impressive outfits in the league towards the latter stages of last season after Oliver Glasner took over from Roy Hodgson. They won 6 of their last 7 league games and drew the other. They also have been good in pre-season, going unbeaten across 5 friendlies. That form hasn't translated just yet this season though, winning just once so far across all competitions. That came in the second round of this tournament against Norwich, so they sit on a measly two points from four matches in the league. 

Palace just beginning to dominate possession in the last couple of minutes but are still having problems when they try to up the tempo and move it forward. Both sides setting up very well defensively to open up this game. 

Palace really letting the seconds tick down as we approach the end of the allotted 5 additional minutes. Testing the referee's patience now as Hughes gives away a blatant free kick. 

Feels like an age since QPR last had a prolonged spell of possession. Palace continue to knock it about comfortably and they've created a bit of a monopoly on the second balls. Very easy for the Prem outfit. 

QPR yet to really test Dean Henderson in the Palace net as the away side continue to hold onto the majority of the ball. They're so well organised in defence and QPR are having to work extremely hard in the final third, for no reward yet either. 

Change for Palace as they try to wind the clock down. Schlupp on for Kamada who has been good today. 

QPR almost play themselves into a bit of trouble with Varane caught in possession facing his own goal. Nketiah tries to pounce but Field is back and lumps it clear. 

The first goalscorer Nketiah is withdrawn for Sarr. Strength in depth for Glasner. 

PALACE BACK IN FRONT! QPR ticking nicely here as they enjoy more of the ball. They follow the trend of the first half though, losing it when they try to attack the final third. Palace steal it back and advance. Given to Eze who carries it forward nicely. In a  central position at the edge of the box and he tries his luck with the shot. Takes a nasty deflection on the way through which wrong foots the keeper and it flies into the back of the net. 

CHANCE! Again some nice buildup from the away side. After a lengthy period on the ball, it's slid into Nketiah in a couple of yards of space. Works it onto his left foot with a shift towards the byline and he drives it across the face towards the far corner. Strong hand from Walsh and Munoz overruns it by a hair, allowing it to be chested into Walsh's hands by the nearest defender. 

Palace with some nice urgency to their passing and movement off the ball as well. It's the away fans making all the noise as well as they continue to push QPR back and knock on the door of the attacking third. The home side remain organised for the time being though, repelling this latest attack. 

Eze takes the corner and swings it into the 6 yard box. Played too close to Walsh with no one boxing him out and he claims under no real pressure. 

Lerma wins a corner which Eze takes. The first delivery is cleared but only as far as Eze again. Plays a second cross in with style but it fizzes across everyone and goes behind the opposite byline. Goal kick to restart. 

Henderson into the book for delaying the goal kick. 

Good experience off the bench for Palace with Hughes replacing Mateta. 

A steep hill to climb for QPR in the second half but they'll be happy it's just the one goal deficit so far. It'll be all but curtains if they allow a second from this point so it's crucial that they get the next goal. A reminder that this game will go straight to penalties if it's level at full time. 

The referee has let a number of things go without caution so far in this game, but that trend is beginning to change here now in the last couple of minutes. Kamada prevented a break from occurring in the aftermath of the free kick and is shown yellow. 

CHANCE! Nketiah picks it up on the left flank and works his way on a diagonal run towards the box. A yard inside the area and he pulls it back for Eze in the middle. He's in a bit of space and shoots first time. Great opportunity from 10 yards out but he blasts it over the bar. Needs to test the keeper at the very least there. 

QPR have struggled in the last couple of years in the Championship. They've survived relegation the last two seasons, finishing just 6 points above the drop zone in 2022/23. With that recent history being so poor, manager Marti Cifuentes will be delighted with the start to the season they have had. Since losing to the Baggies on opening day, they're unbeaten in the last 6. They face a stern test to keep that run going today but are coming up against a Palace side that is yet to fire in the Premier League so far this campaign. 

QPR move it forward, focusing their attack down the right. It's lost when they try attack the box but Palace hook clear and QPR pick things back up on halfway. 

Palace break after dispossessing Dembele at the edge of the box and Eze plays it to Mitchell on the overlap. His cross is blocked but Palace retain and recycle. 

Lerma tries to play a lofty through ball for Munoz to chase towards the byline. The pass has a little bit too much on it though and it goes behind for a goal kick. 

Lovely one touch passing from Palace to find a little pocket of space for Nketiah to drive into. He has Eze to his left and options ahead of him as well but chooses to keep himself. The defence contracts around him though and easily deals with the momentary threat. 

Two more changes for the home side with Smyth and Madsen withdrawn. Dunne and Andersen into the battle. 

The referee letting play go on past the official five minutes. QPR trying to hurl numbers forward but Palace keep them at bay for now. 

More like it from the home side as they win a corner. The ball is rolled through to Saito with Munoz caught in the middle of the park. Able to loft a ball into the box which is hastily headed behind for a corner. 

Guehi carries it out from defence and draws a foul for a tug by the striker Celar. Tactical foul and he's lucky not to be booked. 

Half time change for the home side with Dembele coming on for Dixon-Bonner. 

Swung into the back post and Varane tries an acrobatic effort in an unmarked position. Fresh airs it though and Palace scramble clear. 

After a cagey start where neither side were able to assert any real dominance, Palace showed some quick thinking from a free kick to break the deadlock. Eze fed in Nketiah to score his first goal for the club and it's been all Palace since then. QPR have been quite resolute in their defence since then but it's time on the ball that they've been lacking. 

QPR ticking nicely here as they enjoy more of the ball. They follow the trend of the first half though, losing it when they try to attack the final third. Palace

FIELD WITH THE EQUALISER! Henderson punches the corner but doesn't get rid of it. Headed back in from the edge of the box and it falls to Field at the back post. Takes it under control and puts it into the top left corner past a wrong footed Dean Henderson. What a crucial goal that is! 

QPR enjoying a spell on the ball with Varane showing a bit of bravery on the ball to hold off the pressing Mateta. Good strength shown and they continue to move it about midfield 

BIG SAVE! Lovely play from QPR as they move it forward down the left. Crossed from the byline and Smyth is unmarked at the back post. Heads on target but a stellar diving save from Henderson tips it over the bar. 

CHANCE! Palace smell blood here and they're straight back on the attack. Eze dinks a cross to the back post from the left. Munoz is arriving and the pass is weighted perfectly. Tries to side foot it on the volley but gets the strike all wrong and it goes wide of the mark. 

Pretty much the same as the end of the first half so far here. Palace looking comfortable on the ball, playing it out from deep. Kamada and Lerma linking up play nicely, dropping deep to get things going from the back. 

Lerma gives away possession needlessly just on his own side of halfway, a sign of frustration from the Palace player after they've lost the lead. A lot to like about how QPR are approaching things at the moment. Quicker movement off the ball and that's creating opportunities. Corner upcoming for the home side. 

The two sides are back out of the tunnel and on the pitch waiting for a big second half to start. 

Saito shows strength to bump off Munoz at the byline but is eventually dispossessed and Palace hook clear. That'll be that for this half.

Schlupp tripped by Field as he was countering forward. Yellow given. 

Some positives to take from the performance for both sides, with QPR growing into the game in the second half. Not good enough in the first though, allowing Palace to have their way with the ball for the vast majority of the half.

Played into the front post where it bobbles about for a bit before being cleared. Palace would have had their hearts in their mouths for a split second. 

Kamada asks too much of Munoz with a long ball forward and Walsh comes to tidy up. Poor clearance though that goes out of play inside the QPR half. 

All the atmosphere and optimism from the home fans has been sucked out since that goal. Mateta links up with Munoz on the right and looks to get it back first time. Lets it run through his legs thinking a teammate is behind him but Varane intercepts. 

Palace looking rather comfortable on the ball and they're not forcing anything either. Very patient buildup. Nketiah tries to feed Mitchell with a driven low pass towards the byline but it's intercepted and cleared. Palace win it back on halfway and restart their attack. 

Varane shown yellow for a late challenge on Eze from behind. Clearly stopped an attack from materialising so that's an easy yellow to give. 

Smyth with a rash slide tackle on Lerma close to the Palace box. Out comes the yellow card. 

The fans in full voice now as Palace get the ball rolling again. The away side look to win back some of the control that they have enjoyed for long spells but there's a bit of something extra about this game now. Collision between Nketiah and Field down the right flank and there's some confrontation in the aftermath. Nketiah sees yellow for his input in that. 

Eberechi Eze gets the game going at Loftus Road, against his old club as well! Palace start with a period of possession stringing a few passes around the box. Henderson comes under pressure from the high press and lumps it up pretty aimlessly. Walsh scoops it up with no Palace player anywhere near. 

QPR win a corner after a duel between Lloyd and Munoz. The last touch pretty clearly came off Lloyd but the referee has missed that and the corner will take place. Clipped towards the back post and it's headed behind for another corner. Dembele trots over to take. 

Sarr links up well with Kamada in an advanced position attacking down the right. Gets to the byline and looks to cut it back to Sarr but a QPR defender steps in just in time. 

Wasteful from QPR after looking so promising. Lovely link up down the left and it's played in from the byline. Lerma intercepts and tries to lay it off but his pass is intercepted. The home side with it back and it's crossed into the box again. Poor ball though that goes straight to Henderson. 

Fresh legs for the home side as they go in search of another equaliser. 

Andersen clips it forward, lovely weight on the pass from the edge of the box. Celar can't get on the end of it though, just on a different page to his midfielder. Goal kick for Palace. 

A touch scrappy in midfield with second balls exchanging hands on a few consecutive occasions. Neither asserting dominance in that area of the pitch just yet, probably suiting the home side a bit more. 

Eze rolls the free kick laterally to Kamada. Floats a ball into the box but it's headed clear. Eze picks it back up but is fouled by Smyth over on the left. Another free upcoming. 

SHOT! Quickly shifted forward into the QPR defensive third as Palace stalk the box. Sarr tries to curl one past the keeper with a finesse shot from just outside the box but it's saved. Parried away from danger and QPR clear their lines. 

Ashby with a tug on the shirt of a Palace player in what is a fairly cynical challenge. Clearly prevented the attack from progressing having been beaten down that left hand side. 

NKETIAH WITH HIS FIRST FOR PALACE! Eze takes the free kick quickly and rolls it into Nketiah in a bit of space inside the box on the right hand side of the goal. QPR have been caught napping here and Nketiah takes a touch before driving it through the keeper's legs. Nestles into the back of the net and Palace are ahead! What a moment for the summer signing, one that will give him so much confidence. QPR will be kicking themselves for switching off following the concession of the free kick. 

Slick passing from Palace as they spread it about with ease. Munoz tries to siwtch it out to Mitchell on the opposite flank but Ashby closes that down quickly. Picks it up and drives forward before it's poked away from him and out for a throw. 

Nketiah gives it away and Dembele pounces. Looks to stride forward but three Palace players surround him immediately. Loses his footing and the opportunity goes begging with the away side winning it back. 

A London derby on our hands here at Loftus Road. Palace have named a strong enough team as well and one that should be favourites to win. Mateta leads the line with Nketiah and Eze just behind him. Kamada and lerma make up the midfield while we have a back five of Richards, Guehi, Lacroix, Munoz and Mitchell. Dean Henderson starts in net. 

That goal has settled Crystal Palace nicely. Lovely movement around the QPR press with the passes finding their targets as well. Kamada then concedes a foul in a 50/50 at the edge of the QPR box. Again surprised to see the yellow not shown, that looked like a nasty challenge. 

Lucas Andersen takes it to the corner flag and has run out of options a bit. Pushes off Mitchell who's harassing him from behind before punting it into the fullback. Ricochets for a corner, Andersen has done well there. Nothing comes of the corner however, headed away from danger at the back post. 

A goal from former QPR player Eze proves to be the difference in the second half. QPR put up a good fight, pulling level through Field before ultimately going behind once more. Palace then had the smarts and skill to let the clock wind down. They advance to the fourth round with QPR knocked out of the competition. 

Eze picks it up after the free kick and keeps possession nicely. Drags his side forward with a lovely dribble before cutting back inside. Tries to play a through ball to Sarr but it's poked over the byline. Appeals for a corner but the referee points for a goal kick. 

QPR applying some pressure high up the pitch and it's played into the box on a couple of occasions. Good quality deliveries but Palace do just enough to avoid conceding. QPR need to be better in terms of their execution in the final third. 

QPR running out of ideas here in the final stages of this one. They've exercised most of their options, mostly to no avail. Palace taking their time over every restart. 

CHANCE! SO CLOSE! Lloyd so nearly levelled things up and he had no real right to! Played over the top and he hits it after letting it bounce just once. Tough angle from right of the goal and the defence bearing down on him. Doesn't matter to him though as he strikes it superbly. Beats Henderson but also beats the post by a whisker. 

Good passing in tight spaces from Palace under pressure from the QPR press. They're working it around patiently inside their own half and it's switched out to Munoz who inverts. Looks to keep playing it towards the left and the away side win a throw down that side. 

Worked nicely from Palace with Nketiah starting the attack off. Lays it off nicely to Eze who in turn plays a through ball to Mitchell on the left. Plays a cross in towards Mateta in the middle but Cook gets up in the nick of time to head clear. QPR try to spark a counter attack in response but dogged tracking back from Mitchell prevents anything from unfolding. 

Eze weaves his way into the box dangerously but a last ditch slide tackle from Cook just before he shoots breaks play up for now. Kamada gets to the ball first on the follow up though and powers a strike away. Takes a deflection and goes behind for a corner.
