That rounds things off from Old Trafford, where United have chalked up a big win to make it through to the quarter-finals of the Carabo Cup. For now, this is Nicholas Friedlander signing off.
Leicester were ultimately not overly bothered by the outcome of this game, signposted by their team selection, but they will be disappointed with how they defended. They were all over the shop, constantly exposed structurally. Of real long-term concern was that they didn't really struggle on a personnel front, which will raise the alarm bells for Steve Cooper. Jordan Ayew was steady up front, so perhaps Cooper could look to a front two at the weekend, when they travel to Ipswich for a huge relegation six-pointer.
It is a winning start for Ruud van Nistelrooy in his reign as caretaker boss. It was certainly a United performance of yesteryear, as they poured on with attack seemingly the best form of defence. Bruno Fernandes particularly looked a man revitalised, playing just off of Joshua Zirkzee, rather than a little bit deeper. Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte were good too, whilst Amad Diallo added some nice punch off the bench. They will need to iron out a few things defensively before the visit of Chelsea, but they will certainly be pleased with this!
Manchester United ease to victory in the end at Old Trafford. It threatened to be a cricket score when Casemiro bagged the fourth inside forty minutes, but Leicester to their credit hung in there, getting one back before the break, before pushing on well at the start of the second half. The hosts remained composed though, seeing off the danger before Fernandes cashed in on a loose back pass, to seal the deal just before the hour mark.

Casemiro comes rushing onto a square pass, looking to whip it in from 30 yards out, but there is no second wonder strike, as this one sails into the crowd.
90+1'
United are just looking to see this out as the fans start streaming out of Old Trafford. The game is well and truly over as a contest.

Vestergaard rises highest to win it at the back post, but he heads it hopelessly out towards the corner flag.

Leicester earn a free kick wide on the left, so the big men come forwards from the back once again.
