Crystal Palace have picked up their first win of the new season with a convincing victory over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup. The Eagles return to Premier League action against Chelsea next, whilst the Canaries face tackle Coventry City in the EFL Championship. Make sure you join us again on Tribe for more Carabao Cup second round action tomorrow. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
A tough night for Norwich, who failed to get much going against their star-studded Premier League opponents. After conceding within the opening two minutes, Johannes Hoff Thorup instructed his side to keep hold of the ball and slow the contest down, dictating the contest from the back of the field. Whilst they were able to keep possession for extended periods, they failed to do much with it though, and aside from a big opening within the first ten minutes, they struggled to create any opportunities with the lack of an attacking outlet up front. Just a goal behind at the break, you felt they were still in it, but they failed to push out of their own end, and the Mateta goal ended their fight. It's a result that extends the Canaries winless run against Premier League opposition in the Carabao Cup, and continues their slow start to the new season.
Smooth sailing for Palace tonight, and they made it look very easy in the end. The decision by Glasner to start a number of his key men paid dividends, with Eze and Mateta both wrecking havoc against the Norwich defence. They were frustrated by the slow tempo of their opponents for much of the opening stanza, but Mateta's bycicle kick on the hour mark brought them to life and they really showed their class in the final half hour. The bench added some impact too, and the likes of Mitchell and Munoz were impressive. Glasner may be slightly concerned about the ineffectiveness of their high press at times, allowing the Canaries to keep hold of possession at the back for extended periods, but this will still given them plenty of confidence going forward as they attempt to turnaround their slow start to the Premier League season.
Fulltime at Selhurst Park and Crystal Palace have secured progression in the Carabao Cup with a convincing four-goal victory over Norwich City. Daichi Kamada got the scoring underway inside the first ninety seconds, but it wasn't until the hour mark when Jean-Phillipe Mateta found the bottom left corner with a superb overhead kick that the Eagles pushed away from their opponents. Mateta added another not long after, before Eberechi Eze scored the fourth late on as Palace completed a superb second half effort. It doubles as their first victory of the new season, and Oliver Glasner will be hoping it gives his side the confidence to push on in the Premier League going forward.
90+3'
Lerma drops back for a touch deep inside his own half, and Palace will look to run out the closing moments with possession. Stacey eventually intercepts on halfway, but that should be that for this contest.
90+1'
Schwartau stands over the free kick near the top of the box, and takes aim at goal on his right foot. It's a weak effort in the end though, and his shot smashes into the wall and deflects away with little harm caused.

90'
Fisher picks up the ball near the top of the box down the right, and wins another free kick following a shove from Richards. It's in good shooting position for Norwich, and this is a chance to finish with a goal.
89'
McLean and Sainz link up down the left flank as the Canaries attempt to create a chance late on. The final pass is cut out by Wharton though, and Palace clear back to halfway. Doyle recovers possession at the back, and strides back to halfway, winning a throw off Ward.
