But that's all from me for now. It was a second half that roared into life with a couple of lovely goals, giving the Phoenix fans reason to celebrate with a nice Prosecco and a craft beer this evening. I've been Carl Allport with all the action for you live here on Tribe. Bye for now!
This result lifts Wellington to fifth in the table ahead of Adelaide's game tonight, who are a point behind. Perth stay in tenth and need to find some form before their season starts to drift away from them. Wellington need to head across to Sydney to face the Wanderers on Thursday night, while Perth can lick their (literal) wounds at home while they await the visit of Sydney next weekend.
Perth never really gave up, battling the unfamiliar conditions as well as the home side. Hollar kept running and just needed a little more service, Sunaga was close to a sensational goal, Johnston kept attacking from deep on the left and Zogg covering a lot of ground down back. In the end, it was their inability to maintain pressure or finish any of their half-chances that meant the Phoenix would come away with the W.
Wellington played the conditions to perfection, battling away against the wind in the first half and then sailing home with all the territory and most of the possession in the second spell. It was an all-round performance as Annalie Longo ran the show in midfield, Tanaka always looked dangerous, Wall and McMeeken were attacking from wide time after time and the central defensive duo locked it up down back. And, of course, Jale with a moment of utter brilliance to open the scoring from 30 yards, then Fergusson's inch-perfect header for the second. Impressive.
PHOENIX GET THE POINTS WITH A SECOND HALF DOUBLE! Jale found the goal that this game so badly needed with a strike from range, and then Fergusson with a quality header after Wall's cross sealed the points for the home side.
90+7'
Brazendale finds a pocket of space on the left and shoots from distance but without intent. That is about that, by my timekeeping.
90+6'
Longo with the free kick, a yard outside the box on the right. She lifts a beautiful ball around the wall and into the side netting. The crowd here sees the net bulging and celebrate but it's on the wrong side of the post.
90+5'
Perth giving up the ghost a little, trying the long ball out but it gets caught up in the breeze and comes right back at them. McCutcheon surrounded by FOUR defenders at the top of the box but earns the free kick off any one of them
90+3'
Phoenix not giving Perth a sniff here. Fergusson wins a throw on the right and it's beautifully worked by Longo and Elliott, the latter running into the box, squaring it twice, the second of which Fergusson can only hook into Dumont's arms at the near post.
