That is all we have time for as Sydney FC make light work of Melbourne Victory thanks to a controversial red card. I have been Elliot Thompson, and thank you for joining me. Tune in with us on Tribe tomorrow for more live A-League coverage as Western United face Brisbane Roar.
Melbourne Victory will be disappointed with how they started the game, conceding so early in a chaotic fashion. Especially when coming into this one, they had the best defence in the league. Patrick Kisnorbo will undoubtedly refer to the red card when speaking about why his side lost this game, though. Machach was sent off after VAR sent the referee to the screen. The explanation was that he caught Courtney-Perkins above the ankle with his studs. Looking at the tackle, he is clearly only playing the ball and only makes slight contact with the leg. It did seem harsh at the time and practically ended the game as a contest. In the second-half, Fornaroli made a positive impact for Victory as he had a handful of shots at goal. Bos also came close with a header, but it seemed that Sydney knew they could deal with the threat, which they did. Next up on New Year's day, Melbourne Victory have a big game against Auckland FC.
SYNDEY FC ARE BACK TO WINNING WAYS! After three league games without a win, Ufuk Talay's side has another win on the board. They started this one in fantastic fashion as Lolley scored in under two minutes to set the tone for the first half. Courtney-Perkins sent in a cross, which Miranda failed to clear. It bounces off him into the path of Lolley, who lifted the ball into the net, hitting the post on the way through. The game changed even more in Sydney's favour when Machach was shown a red card after some VAR intervention. Ten minutes after that, Lolley got his second of the game, heading home after a delicious cross from Costa on the right wing. Syndey put the handbrake on in the second half, which led to them living slightly dangerously. However, they rounded off the victory with Kucharksi scoring a tap-in four minutes from time after Lolley was denied a hat-trick by the post. Due to that win, they have moved up to seventh place. Next up for them is an away game against Newcastle Jets.

Ouahim has come off in a late change for Syndey for Quintal. He will be lucky if he gets a couple of touches of the ball.

Valadon plays the ball out to Geria on the right wing. He returns the ball back to him, so he sends in a low cross. Matthews is there to clear, but it comes out to Hamill. The defender puts in a deep ball, looking for Traore. At this late stage, Grant stays switched on to clear the ball away with his head.

Traore on the left wing sends in a deep cross. Courtney-Perkins heads behind, conceding a corner. Reec takes it, looping in a cross towards the six-yard box. He can only find the gloves of Devenish-Meares who is commanding in his area.

Ufuk Talay can relax now, hence why he has made three changes after that goal. Popovic has made way for Gurd at the back. Hollman is off in midfield for King. At the same time, the star man Jolley has also been replaced by Amanatidis.
