That is all we have time for on Tribe as Melbourne Victory beat their rivals with a strong performance. I have been Elliot Thompson and thank you very much for joining me. Stay with us on Tribe for more A-League coverage as Perth Glory are currently in action against Wellington Phoenix.
In this early part of the season that win puts Melbourne Victory top of the table on four points as it stands. They have a home game against Macarthur FC next week. Melbourne City sit in sixth place on three points. Next up for them is an away game against Western United FC.
It was a first half to forget for Melbourne City as their defence looked all over the place. There was no surprise that debutant Ferreyra was taken off at the break to move to a more conventional system as he couldn't cope with the Victory attackers. They restored some pride in the second-half as they put some pressure on Victory. That led to a goal for Nabbout who deserved it the most out of anyone for City. He followed in on Cohen's dipping shot which Duncan could only parry away. There were still 25 minutes left after that goal but City couldn't make any big openings to make Victory nervy. Their best chance after the goal fell to Sulemani with one minute to go but Duncan reacted brilliantly to push it out for a corner. So, a lot to work on for Aurelio Vidmar and his staff after such a poor display.
MELBOURNE VICTORY HAVE THE DERBY BRAGGING RIGHTS! For the third time on the bounce, Victory win the Melbourne derby. The game was all but over in the opening 25 minutes. Velupillay scored the opener after a fantastic through ball by Vergos. On the right side of the box, he held off his defender before slotting home into the bottom left corner. Just seven minutes after that Vergos got in on the action. Piscopo took on Trewin on the left side of the box. He ran to the byline before clipping in a cross inviting Vergos to strike to finish, which he did with a controlled volley. Victory thought they had a third after 20 minutes through Machach. His shot deflected up off Souprayen before rolling into the bottom corner. However, VAR deemed it to be a handball off Teague who was standing near the defender. That didn't matter for Teague as five minutes later he closed down Beach who took a heavy touch. His attempted clearance hit Teague and went in to basically end the game as a contest. Victory did concede in the second half inviting some pressure but they knew they had the win in the bag thanks to a fantastic performance in the first half.

The last change of the game for Victory sees Velupillay come off after getting the ball rolling a long time ago. Midfielder Fabian Monge is on to see how these last seconds.

WHAT A SAVE! Ugarkovic keeps the ball in play on the right wing. On his right foot, he whips in a decent cross. Geria misses it completely allowing Sulemani to run onto it. He prods it forward on his right foot. Duncan dives down to his left to get a hand on the ball putting it wide for a corner.
