A huge result for the Phoenix this afternoon. It was the work of their high press that put Brisbane under pressure in the opening stanza, and they continued that on into the second, playing with plenty of aggression and energy. The likes of McCutcheon, Whinham, and Longo continously won possession high up the pitch, before getting the ball into some dangerous positions. They didn't put together too many big chances, but were good enough to show a degree of attacking ruthlessness, profiting from two mistakes for two goals from the captain. Paul Temple's side were much better defensively in the second half with Alivia Kelly on the field too, not committing as many numbers forward, and keeping the Roar attack on a leash. Jaber and Barry were tasked with getting physical, and they did just that, frustrating their opponents, and doing enough to distract the visitors. That's a home win on the board for Wellington, and they have found some momentum after losing their first three games of the season.
