That wraps things up from this one, but thanks for joining us on Tribe. This is Ryan NIxon (@NewYorkNixon) signing off.
That win creates a little bit of a buffer between the three teams locked on 18 points, five behind Auckland FC, but now clear of rest of the top six by three points. However, Macarthur have played more fixtures than anyone in the league, and the likes of Melbourne City and Western United remain poised three points back. The Wanderers sit just a point outside the top six, and will be disappointed with the way they continue to leak goals at an alarming rate. Only Perth and Brisbane have conceded more, undermining the fact they're the highest scoring team in the league.
In the second half, the game appeared to be done when Dean Pelakanos was sent off for denying Piol a clear goal scoring opportunity, but it was the Wanderers who managed to respond to the discrepancy in numbers, as halftime sub Anthony Pantazopoulos fired home via a deflection. It set the game for a rather engrossing final half hour, as the Wanderers threw everything at the Bulls in search of an equaliser, while the Bulls continued to threaten to bury the game on the break. Neither side could find the sixth goal of the match though, with Macarthur probably spurning the better chances. It mattered little though, as they claimed the three points.
Three points for Macarthur to move into second place on the ladder, in a wild old New Year's Day encounter. The game was open and up pace throughout, with Macarthur constantly threatening on the counter, despite Western Sydney creating plenty of opportunities going forward. Macarthur's ability to convert those chances, with two exceptionally well taken goals from Aliath Piol and Jed Drew (his second of the evening) ensured they went to the break in front, despite Juan Mata's first Wanderers goal.
90+5'
One last throw of the dice for the Wanderers as Brillante sends a ball long, but it's easily cut out.
90+4'
Kurto goes into the book for time wasting.

CHANCE! Thomas goes forward for the corner, and gets his head onto the delivery! He can't head it on target though.
90+3'
CHANCE! Macarthur give the ball away and Borrello is away on the break! He drives into the area, but then looks to cut back inside, and Germain is there to poke it behind for a corner.
