It's finished goalless on the Wellington Phoenix's return to Christchurch for the first time in nine years. Stay with us on Tribe for more A-League action tonight, with the Jets and the Glory having just got underway. It's been a pleasure bringing you all the action from Apollo Projects Stadium. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out.
A solid point on their travels for the Mariners, backing up their strong defensive showing away at the Wanderers last weekend. It's a far cry after conceding four goals on three seperate occasions since the start of December, replacing the experience of Sainsbury with a strong showing from youg Herrington. Kaltak and Paull were strong too, whilst Peraic-Cullen controlled his box well. Like their opponents, they struggled to piece much going forward though. Doka spurned a couple of decent openings, but they were largely restricted to long range efforts, and struggled to open up the Phoenix backline. The result makes it four points from two games, with one more away game to come before they return to Gosford for the first time since New Years Eve early next month.
No goals for the Wellington Phoenix this afternoon, but that makes it three games unbeaten with a point against the Mariners. Obviously they would've wanted to give the Christchurch crowd a lot more to shout about, but they couldn't quite piece enough together going forward. Italiano's men were again content to play on the break for much of the contest, getting Nathan Walker and Corban Piper involved down the flanks at every opportunity. Both men had good outings, but the lack of punch through the middle from Barbarouses and Nagasawa was on show, failing to get either involved for long stages. Defensively they were strong, and Alby Kelly-Heald had another strong showing in goal, completing his second clean sheet in three A-League appearances. A little bit underwhelming ultimately on their return to the South Island, but still progress this season for the Phoenix.
Fulltime in Christchurch and it ends goalless upon the Wellington Phoenix's return to the Garden City for the first time in nearly a decade. Chances were at a premium for the most part, and quality going forward was lacking for long stages, with both defences on top. It's probably not the result neither coach, nor the South Island fans, would've wanted, but it remains a good enough point for either side.

The free kick comes to nothing for Wellington, but the Mariners send it back over the byline at the attacking end with a wayward long ball for Kuzevski. Kelly-Heald launches the goal kick into midfield this time, where Edmondsson intercepts. He sends it wide for Faisal on the right, who loses control straight over the sideline.
90+1'
Just three minutes of injury-time to play, despite what felt like a longer stoppage for the VAR check for a penalty earlier in the half. Supyk picks up a touch and attempts to get away on the counter. He goes down under a challenge from Steele near halfway though, and the Mariners midfielder picks up a yellow card and concedes a free kick.

Faisal loses the ball down the other end of the park on the right flank, and the Phoenix get a throw of their own. It comes back for Hughes near the top of the box, inviting the press from the visitors.
