That wraps up our coverage of this A League Men's clash between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory. If you are thirsty for more A League action, there is a mouth-watering clash coming up next, with the Sydney derby kicking off shortly. In the meantime, thanks for joining me, Zak Brown on Tribe!
The win for Newcastle Jets ends their four-match winless streak and may just provide some momentum to mount a surge towards the top six. Whilst they have not climbed any places in the A League ladder, they have reduced their deficit to nine points in pursuit of a top six place. Next up for The Jets is a tough match away at Adelaide United though. Meanwhile, Melbourne Victory will look to bounce back at home to Wellington Phoenix next up.
Melbourne Victory will be disappointed that they could not edge in front in the first half and they were duly punished for it. Despite introducing a flurry of attacking players off the bench, it just did not click for Melbourne Victory and their two-game winning streak comes crashing to an end. Rather than looking up at catching the top two, Melbourne Victory will now have to look over their shoulders at the chasing play-off pack.
The full-time whistle goes at McDonald Jones Stadium and it's a fantastic win for Newcastle Jets, who run out easy 3-0 winners in the end after three late goals! The second half was interrupted for over 20 minutes, as emergency services responded to a medical emergency in the crowd. That came after the referee had awarded a penalty to Newcastle Jets, following a VAR review on Mitch Langerak's challenge against Lachlan Rose. Grozos remained cool under pressure, to convert the penalty as play finally got underway again. Rather than resting on their laurels though, The Jets extended their lead as we went deeper into second half stoppage time, thanks to goals from Clayton Taylor and Lachlan Rose. Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, Jets goalkeeper Noah James impressed in his first appearance of the season. James made a series of vital saves, with most of them coming in the first half which was dominated by Melbourne Victory in terms of chances created.

The referee brings back play for a late challenge by Josh Rawlins on Clayton Taylor in the centre of the park. The Jets take full advantage of winding the clock down, before resuming play with a free kick.
90+23'
Mark Natta intercepts a forward pass that comes from inside the Melbourne Victory half, but then underhits his pass back to goalkeeper Noah James. Fortunately for Natta, the ball is cleared away from the onrushing Bruno Fornaroli.
90+21'
Lachlan Rose continues to work hard for his team, chasing down a long ball on the right wing which slows up by the corner flag. Melbourne Victory are able to get the ball forward, but The Jets win possession back around halfway.

LIFT OFF FOR THE JETS! The substitutes combine, with Kota Mizunuma breaking the offside trap on the right wing. He drives into the penalty area, before lifting his head up and finding Lachlan Rose at the far post with a low cross. Rose steers the ball into the left corner, to put Newcastle Jets out of sight! Regardless of how much more injury time remains, the game should be well and truly over!
