That's all we've got time for on Tribe, I'm afraid. Until next time, this is James Messenger saying goodbye!
The 10 men of Melbourne City hang on for a huge three points, as their new season starts in ideal fashion. The only goal of the game came courtesy of Marco Tilio inside the opening two minutes, but that was just the start of the drama at McDonald Jones Stadium. Newcastle Jets landed plenty of punches as the game wore on, and with 20 minutes to go, they found themselves with a man advantage after James Jeggo needlessly stamped on Eli Adams and was shown a straight red card. But for all their possession, the hosts just couldn't unlock the City Blues' defence. In the end, it's a clean sheet on debut for Patrick Beach, and Melbourne's 100th clean sheet overall in the A-League. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't easy, but Aurelio Vidmar's side have got the job done on the opening weekend.
A big win on the road for Melbourne City!

Grozos tries to find a cross of note from the right, but his delivery sails over the head of every one of his team-mates in the centre and bounces out of play for a goal-kick. Time is quickly running out for the home side as we approach the final 60 seconds.

GOOD SAVE! A chance to clinch it at the other end as Schreiber finds the recently-introduced Sulemani, 20 yards from goal. His strike is a fierce one, and Scott watches it all the way before beating the shot to safety.

CLOSE! The clean sheet remains... for now! The ball is allowed to bobble in-and-around the Melbourne penalty area, but it just won't drop for the hosts. The ball does end up falling at the feet of Adams, who shifts onto his left foot then bends a shot agonisingly beyond the top left corner.

Plenty up from the back for the Jets as a deep corner from the left is sent the way of Susnjar. He leaps well to meet it but awkwardly catches Politidis in the process, and the free-kick goes Melbourne City's way.

The visitors do now make their changes. On come Arion Sulemani and German Ferreyra, to replace Andrew Nabbout and Steven Ugarkovic.
