It is back to the drawing board for the Sky Blues as they fall to a second straight loss. They will be frustrated with that performance as they had tonnes of possession up front but couldn't find a way through on goal in the second half. Lolley gave everything in that second half and his running yards would be outrageous. The likes of Ouahim and Sena through the middle provided plenty but Ufuk Talay will be frustrated in the end result. They head home to face Adelaide next weekend.

Melbourne were excellent on defence throughout the match. Miranda marshalled the troops with the likes of Teague and Valadon having strong games through the middle. Langerak was impressive in his return to the club while up front, Machach was excellent. Vergos nailed a first half header home before Fornaroli put the icing on the cake with a goal that turned back the clock! Arthur Diles will be pleased to get his first win as coach! A trip across to the West to face Perth awaits Victory next weekend.

A quality second half from Melbourne Victory as they soak up the pressure from Sydney FC before a late Bruno Fornaroli strike put the game beyond doubt for the home side in a result that sees them leapfrog Sydney back into the Top Six.

Victory win the throw in on the right. Kept short before the ball is pushed out the back! Lolley goes down on halfway in the challenge. The free kick is taken quickly but Lachie Keevers looks at his watch and calls time!

No rush on the goal kick from Langerak as he winds down the seconds. He sends it over the halfway circle as Sydney hack it forward. Victory try again to push down the left with Fornaroli winning himself a throw in. Finds Arzani as he goes around the byline! Cleared off the line by Courtney-Perkins as the ball is driven across the face!

Teague does well to win a challenge inside his half and then just puts the boot through it. Sydney are back down the left edge looking for space but they have another ball toed away. Kucharski with the scramble near the sideline keeps it in. Lolley tries to get onto a ball over the top near the byline but Miranda sees it over the line for a goal kick.

Victory go on the counter looking for Fornaroli in front again! The pass looking for the striker is poor and too far in front of him and away over the left sideline. Sydney look to come to the left edge and work towards the corner but it is hacked away by Miranda in defence.

Sydney look to work a longer ball up the right but it is speculator and Victory are able to clear with ease. Back to the left with Quintal trying to drive forward but the defence does well again to snuff out the Sydney attack.
