But that's all from me for now. Melbourne Victory take the spoils and Brisbane are still pointless this season. I hope you enjoyed that - stick around on Tribe for the Adelaide-Western United game in a few minutes, and join me tomorrow for the Sydney-Macarthur clash. Until then, I've been Carl Allport signing off for now!
A tough roadtrip awaits the Victory next. They have a week off before facing Wellington and if they had any sense they'd take that week sampling the craft beers and cafes of New Zealand's magnificant Capital City. It doesn't get any easier for Brisbane, who can head home and prepare for the visit of the also as-yet-undefeated Adelaide in two weeks.
Brisbane Roar will struggle to win a game this season - there, I said it! That was a masterclass of the most ineffective, clueless, uninspiring ninety minutes that you're likely to see. Poor Thomas Waddingham tried hard all night with hardly a ball played to his feet. Van der Saag kept going, only his frustration getting him subbed off late. Other than that, the rest of the Roar side were happy to chase Victory shadows in defence and play horizontal passes in attack. Criticising in cases like this is easy and, knowing the dedication and commitment that goes into putting a football team on the park, is most often unfair. But Brisbane need to come up with something better than that, and quickly.
Melbourne Victory have had tougher training sessions than that. They played the Attacking role in the first 76 minutes and then practiced their defence for the last 15 minutes or so. Machach threatened on the right and Piscopo on the left - both looking dangerous until the latter set up the first goal. Hamill and Roderick dealt with the numerous, ineffective Roar crosses with ease all afternoon. Velupillay was ok as well, no real stinkers from the hosts tonight, maybe Vergos a step behind the play a few times if you really want to pick on someone.
And there's no more time for Monge to get that first touch, as the final whistle goes. Velupillay's goal off Piscopo's sublime assist opened the scoring for the hosts, and Geria doubled their advantage, as the hosts cruised through this game so easily. Victory will move to the top of the league and Brisbane will stay on the bottom.

One last throw in on the right for Brisbane and their final chance, surely...

Kisnorbo wastes some time with a sub - Velupillay is off for Fabian Monge, who probably won't even get a touch.

Now attacking down the right is Brisbane, through Burke-Gilroy. He has the throw-in and at least he's trying something.
