France have wrapped up their Euro 2024 preparations with a slightly dissapointing goalless draw against an impressive Canada side. As mentioned, next up for France is Austria in their Euro 2024 opener next Monday night in Stuttgart. With Poland and Netherlands also to come, they'll be wanting to start with a victory in what could be a tricky group. Meanwhile Canada have a slightly longer break before taking part in the opening match of the Copa America against Argentina in Atlanta. That promises to be a massive occasion for Canadian football, and they've given themselves plenty of confidence heading into that with the result and performance tonight.

A massive result for Jesse Marsch in just his second game in charge at the helm of Canada. They were much improved on their 0-4 loss to the Netherlands just a couple of days ago, and continually frustrated the French with their work on both sides of the ball. They were well organised in defence, and pressed well off the ball, stifling the French attack and forcing errors. With the likes of Cornelius, Buchanan, and Kone holding up play, they were also very calm and composed with possession, pushing up inside the French half and pinning their opponents back in stages. Marsch's side also created the chance to win it, with Millar striking the crossbar moments into the second half. After the dissapointing effort in Rotterdam, Canada will be feeling a lot better about themselves ahead of their maiden Copa America campaign.

Not quite the send off Dider Deschamps and his French side would have been hoping for in Bordeaux tonight. The hosts came out strong and should have scored early if not for a couple of great saves from Crepeau to deny both Thuram and Kante, but struggled to create too many other clear-cut openings from then on in. Canada's emphasis to keep hold of the ball and build possession was a clear source of frustration, and they weren't allowed the territory or field position they perhaps would have expected coming into this fixture. Deschamps injected the likes of Mbappe, Coman, and Kolo Muani into the action late on in an attempt to find a late winner, but the former was denied in the very last play of the game, ultimately leaving Les Bleus with nothing to show for. Somtimes warm-up games can be like this though, and there'll undeniably be a lot more intensity and tempo from this French team when they step out on the park in Germany.

Fulltime in Bordeaux and France have been held to a goalless draw by Canada ahead of Euro 2024. It's not a result many would have expected, but the Canucks were brave and stoic from start to finish, holding firm in defence, and coming close to breaking the deadlock themselves. Jesse Marsch can take some confidence from his side's performance heading into their maiden Copa America campaign this Summer, whilst France will quickly turn their attention towards their Euro 2024 opener against Austria next Monday in Stuttgart.

BIG CHANCE! France pinch back possession in midfield, before spreading it wide for Mbappe in space wide on the left wing. The danger man bursts towards the top of the box and dances around multiple defenders, opening up space for a shot on his right foot. He powers it towards the bottom left corner, but it's too close to Crepeau, and the keeper gets down to parry away and seal the clean sheet for Canada.

Just seconds to play now, and Crepeau takes his time with the latest goal kick, before launching it up over halfway. It bounces all the way through for Maignan at the other end of the pitch, but he gives the ball straight to Osorio on halfway with a wayward searching pass.

Eustaquio has gone down for Canada now, and the midfielder has put in a massive shift for his nation tonight. It appears to just be a little bit of cramp for the veteran, and he should be okay to continue.
