Innings Break
New Zealand set the innings up through their top order with Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman doing the heavy lifting with a second-wicket stand of 112. Ravindra top scored with a flourishing 79 off 62 while Chapman continued his strong recent form with 62 off 52. Contributions by Mitchell (38), Phillips (22) and Santner (20) kept things moving along but the Black Caps will be disappointed to leave a chunk of runs out there. Sri Lanka will need to chase 256 runs to level the series. Can they do it? Stay tuned for the chase which we will have for you shortly.

Seddon Park traditionally offers assistance to seamers early on, and with a reasonable green tinge to the pitch, life may be challenging for New Zealand's top order. It does tend to flatten out as the game progresses, offering some reward for those batters who take time to settle in.
Toss Update: Sri Lanka have won the toss and they elect to bowl first. Tom Latham comes into the New Zealand XI, replacing Mitch Hay. Maheesh Theekshana comes in for Lahiru Kumara in Sri Lanka's only change.
UPDATE (15:55 local time, 02:55 GMT): Play has been revised to 37 overs per side. Two bowlers can bowl a maximum of 8 overs and three bowlers can bowl a maximum of 7 overs.
UPDATE (15:30 local time, 02:30 GMT): Great news! The toss is scheduled for 16:00 local time, with play set to start at 16:30. No word just yet on how many overs have been lost.
UPDATE (15:24 local time, 02:24 GMT): The rain has stayed away, but the pitch remains under covers. The umpires are out in the middle completing another inspection, although it doesn't look all that positive at the moment, with the outfield still reasonably wet.
UPDATE (14:52 local time, 01:52 GMT): The drizzle has finally stopped as the umpires head out to the middle to complete an inspection. The covers remain on the pitch.
UPDATE (14:25 local time, 01:25 GMT): Some promising news, with the bigger covers coming off as the rain starts to ease. There is still some light drizzle hanging around, and the outfield is quite wet, so we are still in for a bit of a delay. Unfortunately, we're almost certain to lose some overs.
UPDATE (13:55 local time, 00:55 GMT): The bigger covers are being rolled out now as the rain starts to come down at a heavier rate. We may be in for an extended delay here.
UPDATE (13:45 local time, 00:45 GMT): Uh oh, the drizzle has returned and with it, the covers are back on the pitch. The umpires are yet to make a decision on when the toss will be.
UPDATE (13:40 local time, 00:40 GMT): Good news, with the drizzle easing and the covers coming off the pitch. The toss shouldn't be too far away.
TOSS DELAYED! Some light drizzle is hanging around Seddon Park and the covers are on the pitch. The toss has been pushed back until further notice.
Sri Lanka faces a tough challenge as they seek to bounce back from a demoralising loss in Wellington. Avishka Fernando (56) and Janith Liyanage (36) provided resistance in the first game, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered under relentless pressure from New Zealand’s pacers. The team will need better contributions from experienced players Charith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis, while Wanindu Hasaranga’s all-round capabilities remain crucial. For Sri Lanka, building partnerships and finding consistency in both batting and bowling will be key if they hope to stay alive in the series.
New Zealand enters the match brimming with confidence after an all-around display in the first ODI. Matt Henry was instrumental with a devastating spell of 4/19, ably supported by Jacob Duffy and Nathan Smith. The batting was equally impressive, with Will Young leading the chase with an unbeaten 90, and Rachin Ravindra chipping in with a fluent 45. With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, this series is the final opportunity for fringe players to cement their places in the squad. New Zealand’s pace attack will be eager to exploit the seaming conditions at Seddon Park, while their top order looks to continue its fine form.
Hello and welcome to Tribe for the second ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Seddon Park in Hamilton, which promises to be a crucial encounter in this three-match series. New Zealand leads 1-0 after a dominant nine-wicket victory in the opening game, where their fast bowlers dismantled Sri Lanka’s batting lineup. With the Black Caps eyeing a series win and Sri Lanka looking to level proceedings, this match carries significant weight for both teams.
