Innings Break
However, the promising 33-run stand between the two Kerr sisters came to a swift end when Knight had Amelia caught at mid off during the 9th over. During the middle overs, Wellington's rebuilding efforts took another hit when both Brown and Jess Kerr were removed in quick succession which left them reeling at 88-5 by the 15th. Due to this unprecedented setback, the scoring rate also slowed down and it was hard going for McFadyen and King in the middle. At this point, the Brave bowlers were on top. However, the sixth wicket pair managed to muster a few valuable runs toward the end and stretch the Wellington score to 133. We will be back for the run chase after a short break.

Toos Update: Northern Brave Women won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Northern Brave have had a competitive season, securing four wins while facing three losses. They narrowly fell short in their opener against Wellington Women, losing by just four runs, but quickly found their rhythm with three straight wins. After dropping two more matches, they regained momentum with a victory over Canterbury. Chamari Athapaththu has been a standout performer with the bat for the Brave, racking up 219 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 134.35. Skipper Jess Watkin has contributed 183 runs in eight innings, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 138. Meanwhile, Caitlin Gurrey, batting at number three, has provided stability with 196 runs in eight innings, stepping up when the team needs an anchor. Athapaththu has also dominated with the ball, claiming 15 wickets an economy rate of 5.48. Marama Downes and Jess Watkin add depth to the attack, giving Northern Brave a strong bowling lineup. The Northern Districts haven’t had a lot of luck against the Blaze this season and it is high time that they look to break the deadlock in this do-or-die clash.
Wellington Blaze have been one of the most consistent teams this season, securing six wins while suffering just three defeats, which has placed them in second position. With a balanced squad filled with in-form all-rounders, they are well on course to make the finals. Skipper Amelia Kerr has led the charge with the bat, scoring 397 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 110.27. Jess Kerr has provided solid middle-order contributions, tallying 299 runs in nine innings at 125. Rebecca Burns has played an important role at the top, bringing stability when required. On the bowling front, Jess Kerr has been the standout performer with 13 wickets and an economy rate of 5.11. Amelia Kerr and Xara Jetly have combined for 17 dismissals, keeping the Blaze’s attack well-rounded and effective. Wellington have remained unbeaten against Northern Districts since 2014 and will be looking to maintain their winning streak against them and power all the way to the finals to meet Otago on February 2.
Hello and welcome to the Eliminator of the Dream11 Women’s Super Smash 2024-25 edition between Wellington and Northern Districts from Basin Reverse in Wellington. The rain saved the day for the two teams on January 30th as both teams walked away with two points each in a rain-marred affair claiming the second and the third positions in the points table. With two teams now in a must-win territory, who will get to prevail this time around? Let’s find out how the day unfolds. My name is Datrim Singha Ray and I will be bringing you all the live-action from today’s epic encounter.
