Lionel Messi will hoist aloft the Copa America trophy on another famous night for him and Argentina. On behalf of Tribe, it's been a pleasure bringing you all the drama and action from this captivating edition of the tournament, and tonight's lengthy Copa America final. For now, Harrison Ryburn signing out from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Emi Martinez recieves the Copa America golden glove for his heroics through this tournament, whilst Lautaro Martinez recieves the golden boot for his five goals. Meanwhile, James Rodriguez is thorughly deserved as the golden ball recipient for the best player of the tournament.
Of course, the pre-match troubles outside the Hard Rock Stadium that disrupted the start of tonight's final can't be forgotten, and raise serious security concerns ahead of the hosting of the 2026 World Cup in this country. Thousands of fans entered the stadium without tickets, and on another night it may have gone a lot worse. As a result, it's now well past midnight in Miami as Argentina prepare to lift the Copa America trophy.
Heartbreak for Colombia and defeat in tonight's final puts an end to their incredible 28-game unbeaten run. From a Colombian perspective, this was supposed to be their night, and their best chance at adding to the nation's sole Copa America title from 2001. They started well too and injected plenty of energy into the contest with their high press, coming close with a Cordoba effort that struck the left post. That effort seemed to tire them out as the contest progressed though, and they simply couldn't keep up with Argentina in extra-time, no matter how many changes Nestor Lorenzo made. On another night this should have been Colombia's, but instead it's Messi's and Argentina's. They still have the talent to push forward and be a real threat at the 2026 World Cup, but this feels like a real sucker punch for Colombian football.
Pure ecstacy for Argentina at the final whistle, and the celebrations back home in Buenos Aires will live long into the morning. They were forced to fight for everything tonight, and against what appeared an unbeatable Colombian side, came up with a moment of magic deep in extra-time. It was almost a case of Lionel Scaloni's side simply outlasting their opponents in the end. Both sides cancelled each other out for long periods, but La Abiceleste noticeably had more in the tank as the contest wore down, ultimately capitalising with a magical Lautaro Martinez goal deep in extra-time. Having been forced out of the limelight through injury during Argentina's 2022 World Cup win, the striker is now the star of the show, and will also finish with the tournament's golden boot for his five goals. Emi Martinez would have given them a chance had it gone to a shoot-out, but Scaloni will be relieved his substitute came up with the goods. The loss of Messi to injury early in the second half also made it tough on this Argentine side, but they have shown tremendous fight and resilience to come out the other end with a another major trophy.
Fulltime in Miami and a goal from Lautaro Martinez deep in extra-time has propelled Argentina to a second-consecutive and record 16th Copa America title. It comes after over an hour of pre-match delays, a 25-minute half-time break, and a lengthy period of extra-time, and finally La Abicesleste have been crowned champions. It's a fitting finale to Angel Di Maria's storied international career, and a third major trophy for Lionel Messi. Tears stream down the faces of both teams in contrasting emotions at the final whistle, with Colombia's incredible 28-game unbeaten run also having come to an abrupt end. At one stage it almost seemed as if we'd never reach the end of this one, but it's a final that will live long in the memory both for the action on the field and off it.
ARGENTINA RETAIN THE COPA AMERICA!

One final attacking chance for Colombia and a long ball finds Borja inside he box. His first touch is too heavy though and Argentina clear away to loud cheers from those fans in blue and white.
120+1'
Two additional minutes will be played at the end of this one, and Emi Martinez launches the goal kick long over halfway. It almost bounces through for Lautaro Martinez at the top of the opposite penalty box, but his first touch is too heavy and Vargas rushes off his line to collect.
